Rather than go into a long and boring story let's just say I can't reload right now.

So, I will need to shoot a factory load for Pistol Cartridge in January.

I thought I'd buy a 100 count box of Remington or Winchester. Something like 125gr FMJ - or whatever I can find

I'll be shooting in Austin and don't want to harm Tim's targets. Does anyone have a suggestion on which ammo to use (I could even use .38 Special) that would be fairly accurate and not harmful to the target.

My fall-back is to use the 39A for both SB and PC. (But sometimes you need to "make some noise.")

Tim's targets are actually pretty robust. That being said C-P will usually fall with a 22 so you'll just loose a few rams if set hard. I'd buy what ever is reasonably priced and bring enough to sight in if you don't before you get there... ;)

I've shot .38 special many times even the all lead ones shoot well. Just stay away from wad cutters.

Yeah, but they are mild steel, and I have seen the results of factory 357mag out of a levergun before.... it does leave a pretty healthy divot on mild steel, especially if there are any edge hits.

My suggestion is to shoot 38 special, or just use the 22LR with HV ammo and live with a few lost rams.

Factory 357 loads are usually pretty hot. I'd just shoot your 39 and live with a few lost targets until you get the 357 up and running. My 357 LOVES a 140 grn XTP with a load of titegroup. The load is straight from the Hodgon manual.

OK. I can live with the 39a for both matches. I'll just shoot the rams high.

I have had good luck with factory Remington 110 grain loads.
No target damage and very flat shooting.
