Cathy's performance in the first match yesterday was the most amazing thing I've ever seen in the sport.

The hardest gust I measured was 21 mph. I do think there were some gusts that were stronger.

AJJ, I know you were there for the SB, but the show Sanchez put on in HP was something also. If there is anyone on this planet that can beat him, day after day, I would like to know who?

The only thing that really impressed me about the 2007 Smallbore Nationals(the first NRA Nationals we have been able to attend) was the tremendous work ethic demonstrated by the Tello/Sanchez team. I have never seen anyone work this hard at shooting Smallbore Silhouette. I do not think we can afford the tremendous number of rounds they put downrange in practice. The success that Sanchez and Tello experience is well deserved because they work for it.

Jim, what happened in HP? You can tell us.

Alston, we had the best weather ever at HP and without saying it was perfect I have never experienced better weather since 1979 when they hosted the first HP match if my memory serves me right.

Agustin had lots of competition in both SB and HP but had more trouble winning his SB Standard title and was never in the running for the SB Hunting since in my opinion it is his weakest link. He trains with a .22 and an air rifle but neither one has a heavy trigger, in the past he has used a hunting rifle with a three pound trigger to train but he did not do it this year and it showed.

In HP Agustin was very consistent all three days and turned in scores of 34-34-36 in Standard Rifle and 36-37-34 in Hunting Rifle. He tied his own National record with the 37 the second day and broke the current National aggregate record by four points with his 107X120.

He won all six individual daily matches, the Standard aggregate rifle match by 10 points over Cathy and the Hunting rifle aggregate by 18 points, second place was Arizona's Joy Cox who broke two of the woman's National Records by shooting 33X40 I believe the first day of competition and by shooting 89X120 aggregate score.

As a point of interest Agustin got all ten turkeys the first day of Hunting rifle to earn his four Grand Slam pin and even if he did not have the three other legs before this year the first day of Hunting rifle competition he hit all ten turkeys and pigs and the second day Rams and chickens.
