The High Lonesome Silhouette Club in Hobbs, NM held it Annual Shoot this past Saturday with 76 shooters participating. Of those, over 20 were junior and sub-junior shooters. Lloyd May and those helping him are really promoting the sport. They gave out $3000.00 in prizes and raised another $2600 for the club with a raffle of a new CZ455 and Weaver Scope. Way to go, High Lonesome!! You guys really know how to get it done!!

The club down in Hobbs sounds like it has a very active silhouette community.
I need to make it down there for one of their big matches.

I made it this year, David. Waverly was second over-all with a 48 (I think). It was a 60 shot match. The winner was Lynn Saxton with a 50. My ol' shooting buddy, Mike Bostick, came out of retirement to win third and gave a good showing for us super-seniors. He shot a 44. It was a fun shoot, shooting 5 NRA targets, 5 3/8 size targets and 5 1/2 size targets. It was tough in a 10-15 mph 90 degree wind. I think this type of shoot, although not official or approved by the NRA, is a lot of fun and really promotes the sport. It was exciting to see so many young shooters coming up -- High Lonesome has 40 active members. They will have a night shoot next month with all the proceeds going to help a young girl in the community with serious health problems. Their prizes remind me of the Winsboro, LA shoot. It was every bit as much fun as the Nationals. Put it on your calendar next year!! Nobody even shot at the Blue Quail running across the range in front of the Chickens! Great range-- they could shoot 12 shooters on each of the six relays and next year will be able to shoot 16 shooters a relay.

Dale it was definitely nice seeing you out there.
You are making it sound nicer than it was. I wish it was 10-15MPH winds. That would definitely be more manageable. I clocked the winds with the meter at 15-20MPH... with some occasional blowing dust. YUCK!
Waverly did well for her first 60 round match with a 46 taking first in Masters, Juniors and Womens.
Rebekah took 1st in sub-junior with a 52. The reason she did not get 1st is because sub-juniors shoot off of the stand. But nonetheless in the wind she was shooting the 1/5th scale like no ones business.
We had fun and hope to make it again next year.
