I would try different diameters of HN pellets. Neal Stepp at ISS can help you out. I had my Anschutz tested by NJ Guns (now out of business) and there was a definite preference in pellets. Pilkguns/Vogel is another good option. So just like 22s, you just have to try some out. The diablo match pellets are great for indoors, but they plane in the wind. JSB makes a good domed pellets for outdoor shooting. I get those from Pyramid.

I bought a couple small 500rnd tins at my local hardware store to try. Just had to buy something! I got some Meisterkugeln (8.2gr) and some RWS R10 (8gr?). I'll try those and then move on to testing some of the others mentioned.

I shoot both RWS types indoors at 10M. HN tested best, but RWS still shoots an X every time I do my part. In the wind, they really fly around. That is where you want a round nose slug. The worst stuff I shot was a polymer tipped pellet, and some daisy stuff from china. Those were junk. Before I shot those two types, I really thought any pellet was good enough.
Quality airguns really impress me. Those 300s are a real buy. A FWB300 plus a case of Meisterkugeln is about the same cost of a case of RWS 22LRs.

I bought a Crosman Challenger PCP/CO2 air gun for my son so he and i could practice in our basement. So far we've only shot it at 10 meters, but i can say that at this distance it will put every pellet (assuming match pellet) in the exact same hole. Trigger is fully adjustable. Anyway, it's a pretty cool little rifle and is working great for us so far.

With the Crossman factory not far from here and their sponsoring our last Field Target regional we have been fortunate to see, handle and shoot some of the new Crossman air rifles... They seem to work great at the distances we shoot at and for field target. The 'A Team' has done extensive work with Crossman on the development of these rifles and has published a lot of information on them on the different air gun sites.

So they do make a viable, moderate cost choice PCP for Silhouette? Nice to know.

Thanks for all the replies on this topic. I have had the AA 400 for a couple weeks and have had the opportunity to shoot it a dozen times and it has exceeded my expectations and am having a blast shooting it. I love the stock and wish I had the same shape stock for my small bore. I was very reluctant to spend that much money on a BB gun and tank. but now realize I can shoot it more than all the other guns so I consider it one of the best purchases in a long time.

Top work! That is the sole reason I love airguns above my other guns. The others are fun for sure, but I can't go past my airgun and it is the gun I shoot the most. I can shoot it almost anywhere safely, quietly, cheaply. Took me a long time to swallow the cost of a good airgun but in the use and value you get out of them they are hard to go past and well worth the cost.

I've been without one for a little while now but looking to buy another one. Fair chance it will be a walnut stocked S400 but I'm also looking into a Steyr LG110 too, big $$ but big on the fun factor too and supremely accurate.
