Glad you got your order. I ordered bases and rings for my Kimber from Andrew at BKL over a year ago and never recieved them. Repeated calls to Kimber went unanswered. They did billed my credit card however.

US Optics makes a wikkedly cool base for the Kimber, and if you're looking for BKL stuff, I always call the BKL order line, 1-800- Hey Innocent.

Hey Pat the rutting shooter, I'm around...still in CO with sun again today. We have only made two trips to Applejacks so far but the hot tub is working, thank goodness after 14 hours in the field yesterday. I have some mounts with me for those deperate, otherwise you might have to wait til I get home.

The rifle arrived today, and the scope is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. The rings and trigger kit are still missing in action, but my dad gave me a set of weaver tip-off rings (color me amazed that my dad would even have these since al his guns are quite a bit larger bore than mine) until the BKL's get here.

A friend has done this and its nice and smooth. I am going to do it soon myself, amazing how much difference there is but then my rifle is still new really.

Ok now I don't want you coming back with excuses about using the borrowed rings when you only shoot a 24/40

Hope the rest of your stuff shows up soon. My goodies from Blaubear should be here tomorrow and projects will commence

When you lap the bolt, remove the extractors first and the fully disassemble the bolt for cleaning since the lapping compound gets everywhere. Extractors don't need lapping [IMO], although running them lightly across fine sandpaper to remove stamping burrs is good advice.

But remember, if you practice enough at the range and dry firing (use a snap cap for cheap insurance) it will lap in real nice, too!

Blaubear, did you notice my post in that thread mentioning that very same thing about stripping the bolt pre lap/polish since those parts are of no real consequence to the fit your actually polishing. Seems some think its best to leave it all on then clean but I question that also in cases where all the parts are not acted upon to create the desired effect.

Just something I noticed and found interesting in posts differences. I guess thats goes to show its best to check things several places before jumping headlong into something. ohhhh like a stock that needs finishing
