Well, this thread, like all other threads on Steelchickens, has been thoroughly hijacked

Does anybody have an educated suggestion for a hotel? I find many online with horrid reviews.

I've never stayed at any of these hotels but anything on Siegen Lane or Reiger Road will be convenient to the range and to restaurants, etc.
I tend to like Hampton Inns and there is one on Reiger road.

We stayed at the Best Western on Siegen lane last year. It was brand new, then. It was a Best Western, that's the best description I can give. We will stay there again. The area is nice, plenty of food around. Close to the range.......which is a park behind a baseball field. As a warning to anyone who hasn't driven to Baton Rouge from the west, the traffic jam to cross the river is ALWAYS present. Expect to add 30 minutes to your travel time. They warned me, but I didn't believe them. If Tureau is cooking, bring some tupperware for leftovers. My kids preferred his cooking over everything else. We ate good! See y'all there!!!!

Thanks Pat.
As far as traffic goes. If you are coming from the east in the morning, expect traffic. If you are coming from the east in the afternoon you should be fine. If you're coming from the west before 3:30 PM, you should be fine. After 330, expect lots of traffic crossing the bridge. Friday traffic will be worse than Thursday traffic.

I tried to get some of hotels in the general area of the range to give a special rate but none were interested without blocks of rooms being taken and I have no idea how many we might expect. The rate wasn't enough to amount to anything anyway. The one Pat recommended would be a good choice. I would avoid any of the dive hooker joint Motels on Airline Highway. Unless you are into that sort of thing of course

I made my reservation today at the Best Western. Looking forward to seeing you folks in four weeks. REALLY looking forward to some legit Cajun food, hoping there's some to be found in the area.
