No worries it was surrendered to me last week, if the Pom wasn't medically blind I would have had to surgically remove it I guess. Yes the fine bead is a tad too small on black targets, as you found out it just melts away, I find on white it's not so bad. There is a place for that size bead just not silhouette......bugger. Anyway the only way to find out these things is to try them, decent opinions should be based on experience not third hand bull*#+@.

I've just got in another MVA with the standard size bead so will fit that to something shortly and give it a run. I also got in two MVA 130 tang sights for my slowly growing collection of old Marlins. May even be using one at Rankin......

Hey Mick,

I have two MVA's #130's somewhere over the pacific at the moment. Been around a two month wait to get them sent but they are finally on their way. Was hoping they would have been here for the state titles but nope. Should be at rankins though.

The 38-55 has some promise so far, so fingers crossed it shoots ok with proper testing. I've had the chance to try a few loads just with an original marbles tang sight and the original german silver blade which isn't the greatest combination but out of some 2207, AP70, Unique and Trailboss loads it seemed to be 9.5gr of AP70 or Unique that shot the best in limited testing.

Once I get a decent rear sight on it I'll do some more testing. I did cast up probably 400-500 projectiles tonight so looking forward to a decent test. Also doing the trigger tonight.

Thanks for the lend of the MVA front though. I didn't do anything more than sit it on the barrel and look but decided it just wouldnt work even though I loved it. Cured my curiosity though.

Sounds good, hope it goes well.

Got my 35 running, no problem hitting the chook at 200m. That's not a bad way to see if a load is shooting well enough. All my load development is done offhand. I'm still choosing between 2205 & AP70, both shoot very well and I have two bullets that also shoot really well, so at the moment I'm spoiled for choice with the 35. I'm back to a 1/16" front bead on all three rifles.

Looking at the standard pin MVA it is quite similar in size to a 1/16", may be a tad smaller, (but huge compared to the small pin version). I'll throw it on the 45-70 and try it out, weather is dark and overcast just of late so a good time to try things out against black targets
