Thanks for all the interest & input. For those betting on scope issues or bedding- you're really at a disadvantage since you have no idea how little experience I have with any less than "minute of beer can." Evelio was a big help today, and his diagnosis is wind issues at the range. Both sessions were breezy, but since they didn't really seem any worse than previous sessions with the Win52 I expected similar results. I'm sure some time in the warehouse will prove that everything was environment/technique rather than a rifle problem...

Ask Evelio to shoot your rifle. That will change the human element and maybe the environment too.

It's not as simple to shoot great groups off a bench as one would expect. Some rifles are really sensitive to small variations in cheek pressure, grip, etc. But shooting in wind can be crazy. I've seen Wolf MT shoot sub 1" groups in breezy conditions.

But 3 moa will kill a can at 100 yds! What's wrong with that?

Edgehit, your comment just made me visualize a Silhouette match that involved full cans of soda instead of animals. That would be fun! You could lay them on their sides for the rams and stand them up straight for the turkeys. Then use those little 6oz miniature cans for the pigs. Maybe you'd have to use bottle caps for the chickens.

It would be an explosive match for sure if everyone used hollow points!!

It's not me!!! I finally got so frustrated that I dropped the rifle off with Evelio, and he has confirmed that it won't group as currently configured. We still need to see if it's scope related or some problem with the rifle itself.

I should be bummed that my brand-new Weatherby & brand-new Sightron scope don't work worth a damn (yet), but instead I'm elated to have confirmation that shooting proficiency of the owner is not the issue here. Is that twisted or what? I'm going to celebrate with a tall scotch.

I like my Weatherby XXII so much that I just bought another one from a gentleman on RFC. He is frustrated with the ejection issues that plagues the Anschutz 64 action. I am hoping that it groups as well as the one that I have now, and from his reports it sounds like it will. I am fully impressed by my Weatherby and it is my favorite rifle up to now. It has improved my silhouette scores and I think I am going to break into the AA class this Sunday if my scores hold up.

I'm not sure what I am going to do with another Weatherby XXII but I couldn't pass it up for $500.00. I am thinking I might put a hunting scope on it and actually hunt with it. Or maybe I'll set it up for silhouette and try to see if my wife wants to give it a try. Who knows, I'll figure that out later!

Hopefully Evelio can sort out where the issue is. Whether it says "Weatherby" on the barrel or not, it is still an Anschutz and it should shoot. Plus, you have a test target to prove that it can. Just have to find where the problem is. Keep us updated.
