My spotter wanted to score it a hit but in the end it went down as a miss. Either way the results would be akin to the deck chairs on the Titanic.

In the end where there is no rule you have to let your conscience be the guide.

My favorite hit that was a miss was in Cody WY. It was a few years ago when the WY state match was there.

A chicken was hit a little low (a base hit) It proceeded to fly into the air then land back on the foot pad like it was never shot in the first place.
That had to be the best trick shot I have ever seen.

Boy, and I thought spinning a turkey 90 degrees without it falling was a tough shot to make!!

Hello all. I am new here and also new to the sport.

shootnchef's story reminds me of hitting pig No. 8 (iirc), probably low and off centre... It flew up, rebounded off the roof of the trap, then landed on its feet, on the rail exactly where pig No. 7 had been. Spotter scored it as a hit which was fine by me.

By way of introduction: Have shot in 2 comps thus far and though still in the bottom of my class I'm having a great time and very much enjoy the laid back (and safe) attitudes on the firing line. Met people from all over Canada and some from the USA, all of whom were very generous with advice. I also had never seen bullets in flight before - a revelation to me.

Maybe Eley should come up with a bright orange bullet, so it is easier to see. Not tracers, just bright colors. I know somebody who would order "PINK" bullets,

The best "trick" shot I ever saw involved a turkey in Smallbore Pistol Silhouette. The shooter had nicked the bird and turned it 90 degrees, leaving the bird standing edgewise towards us. As there was still time remaining (our local matches were pretty relaxed) we told him to take another shot. Darned if he did't nail it! We still counted it as a zero, but what a fantastic shot to see.

We require our pistol shooters to hit those animals they spin like that. (After about 30 shots, we can't stop laughing)
