OK...so help me make a decision:

Do I get the 17xx in a Right hand action knowing I'll need to get a new stock that accomodates a left handed shooter of a right handed action

OR....

Do I get the 1415 in a left handed action knowing I'm going to want to drop the sporter stock for something more "target" worthy....

All of the sudden I'm feeling very uninformed!! :?

1415 versus CZ

Post by Jetmugg »

There are a lot of people who will tell you that the CZ 452 is a better rifle "for the money" than a 1415 Anschutz. I raise this issue only because some of the 452's configurations are available in left handed actions. I'm not a lefty, so my opinion may not really matter on this topic.

However, when it comes to righties, I can share my experience. I have a CZ 452 Varmint model which I upgraded with a Timney trigger and a modified CZ Silhouette stock. It shoots great (much better than I can), but in the end, I still wanted something more.

I still had a yearning for a 1712 FWT, so last summer, I bought one for myself as a treat. It's a great rifle (better than I'll ever hope to be), and I'll never need anything better. I've got what is arguably the best factory out-of-the-box rimfire rifle on the planet.

The lesson to be learned here (if there is one), is to "Buy the best, and only cry once").

If you buy the 1415, you will most likely end up buying a 17xx rifle as well, and in the long run you would have saved yourself the cost of the 1415 by purchasing the 17xx to begin with.

Well....that's interesting. I already have a 452 Lux (Right Handed) and was contemplating a Trigger upgrade.

I know where I can get the 17xx but I will need to get a left-hand stock for a right hand action.
