C W Slaughter, Teresa Everheart and William Zander have almost convinced Jerry and I to host a 2013 Southern Nationals PARTY! We will hold this party the first full weekend in June as we have in the past. We will still have door prizes from local and national sponsors but you will not have to shoot anything to win anything! I am sure that Steiger and Motl along with the usual suspects including Mary will run a Regional Air Rifle match. We will NOT give out any trophies or prizes for Air Rifle if they hold a match but give away all the items as door prizes for all that attend. We will probably have a charge of $75 to cover a Friday night meal, Saturday Brunch (so no one has to get to the range at the butt crack of dawn!) and the usual Adult Beverages! We will still send out a program but not print it to give our sponsors coverage online! I am sure that we can invent many new ways to give out the door prizes! If anyone wants to hold a smallbore match, have at it as we will not run the match anymore after this year. We will furnish the range for this purpose but the $75 fee will not cover any NRA fees or trophies.

The preliminary details are a Friday Evening meal as usual, Saturday Brunch about 10 AM and Door Prizes all day. This will allow every one to leave early on Sunday to get home. It will all be very low key but a Large Time for all is planned!

This poll is to see if there is any interest because we will not even attempt to contact our sponsors for less than 50 people and we may decide to have it prepaid by January 1, 2013.

The date has always been a issue if anyone wanted to ever attend the Montana Iron Man match they would have to miss Winnie. Since Winnie will not be a match so much as a party perhaps another weekend would be better. After Winnie is history I plan to attend Ridgeway Nats one year and Montana or some other match out west the alternating year unless I end up going to Raton one year just to see the place. Then maybe I just am wishing I can fit everything in when it just isn't possible. Wouldn't be the 1st time

We will stay with the first weekend of June even for a party. After all, it is really just to get together and reminisce about the good ole days! We do not have problem if anyone chooses not to attend and go to real silhouette matches when we will just be having a good time. Most of the participants would only come just to see each other and that is why most come to our match anyway.

I am sure that we will have a better answer at the match anyway. We just threw out this idea that Zander, Teresa and CW Slaughter mentioned to us at the SHOT Show. Jerry and I are just worn out (as well as Robin) and no one in our club wishes to step up to the plate! We can do a party with very little effort and have just as good a time. Anyone can run a registered match during that time at our range if they wish to do so but we have chosen to let that portion be up to someone else. After all, 400+ hours of work to get this match ready (not counting the week of the match) with no pay is reason enough to give it up. There is no such thing as the "Golden Years" and I am going to totally retire now!

I guess that we will just have to poll at the match and see who is interested. Not too many participants in the poll. Maybe y'all can convince Bruce to run a match at the Party. We just have to come up with a catchy name for it! After all, we are just into the party mode now and I personally cannot wait until June.
