if you were crazy?????

Post by silhouette13 »

if i was crazy..... i would get matching SB and HP rifles made by dakota (model 10) or miller arms low boy and classics . whew! those are some sweet rigs.

at 5k start points each i would have to be crazy? so a matching CZ's may be about my limit.

christmas is coming... any big wish lists out there?

What do you mean "if" there? I think many of us have matching smallbore and highpower rifles for silhouette that we scrimped, saved and sold other guns for years to be able to buy. Mine are worth more than the entire rest of my gun collection, probably twice over. There's no "if" for me. Evidently, I am. :)

I'm not too sure I know what you mean. I have a Anchutz 54 repeater and a 1712 for SB and a custom 6.5 x 47 for my HP. They arn't made by the same company but they are the finest rifles you can buy. I am happy with them and I think we all forget how much money we have invested in our guns.

not crazy per se'

i have stupidly fine taste in rifles, i like dakotas , Rigbys, Merkel etc. i am a huge fan of the falling block. a custom pharr stocked 1710 is less than 1/2 the cost of a basic dakota model 10. taste is super high, budget is more down to earth. ruger #1

one in a HP sutible caliber is next on the list. if i could get one in 22 i would shoot that too.

the crazy part is if i could afford them i would have them on order tomorrow, they wouldnt gain me anything over an anchutz and a pharr 700 HP.

rent is paid, food on the table, some beer in the fridge......dreams in my head

I am by no means finished with my rifle acquisition addiction, but I am still a long way from coming close to what I spent on a boat about 10+ years ago to chase fish on weekends with. I have however spent many times more hours enjoying shooting, tinkering and playing with my guns than I ever spent in that boat. When it comes to guns for competition, if you compromise at first you will always spend more upgrading in the long run. If you think you will be happier with a Pharr custom or the matching pair of Dakotas, then by all means stuff the piggy bank till you can afford them and get them. The longer you have to save to get them will make them all the more appreciated when you own them. That matched pair would still be less than the boat I had. I just wish I had gotten back into shooting before I bought it.
