Its a pretty laid back group and a good time. I missed last season due to personal/schedule issues, but I`m real excited for the this years shooting season. Maybe I will manage to get out of B class.

I'm certain Ed and Nelson will squad you with an experienced shooter to walk you through the learning curve and "ground rules" appropriate to CRC.jjp wrote:Looking forward to meeting everyone in TN. Yall will have to take it easy on a rookie.
Just be sure to wait at the gate until Ed or Nelson give you access. I usually call Ed's cell about a mile out.
See y'all in April.

Re: Rifle Silhouette Matches for 2010 in Chattanooga Tennessee
I'm looking forward to it. Just ordered targets to set up a range here at the house. I'm going to go to some small matches in Dickson also. I'll be using my new 1712. I'm scope shopping. Looks like I'm going to get either a Leupold 25x or the more versatile VX-3 6.5-20 efr with a custom 3/8 dot reticle. Do I need to get a shooting vest before my first match? Thanks for the help.

Jason, the most important thing is to get some rounds downrange with the rifle/scope/ammo of your choice. A vest does seem to help, especially for building the rifle-butt--shoulder part of your stance and providing a non-slip place for your "off hand".
I use a hunting/upland vest with suede leather patches sewn strategically to it. If you can get what you want, why wait?

Jason, I have both Hardscrabble and Marco Sanchez vests. They are both well made, and worth the money. Depnding on your desire for color/quality/type of leather, and how much shoulder pad you want. If you intend to shoot HP at all, I would tend towards the Sanchez vest, but that is a personal preference.
