Your best Rimfire ammo - SB Western Silhouette

Post by 375Short »

Two Uberti 66’s one a 1989 the other 2020.

Both like SK high velocity Match and CCI SV. Fellow competitors thankfully recommend the SK HV otherwise I probably wouldn’t have tried the noisy hard kicking stuff.

Both hate Eley High velocity.

Both run a risk of any fired Eley squeezing through the lifter while ejecting. Soft Eley cases are bad news in a Uberti 66 chambered in 22LR.

The 2020’s top accuracy preference is the very expensive Norma long range. The 1989 is the SK HV match.

Off a bench With a tang rear and Lyman 17a the listed ammo will hold 1 to 1 1/2 moa @ 100. Many other choices have been tested over the years with results of 2-5 MOA. Neither of the rifles (or perhaps the user) are top accuracy performers and are finicky about what they shoot good enough.

Are they configured as carbines or rifles?
I am curious about the weight.
A fellow shooter has a "new" one in 22 magnum. That 24" octagon barrel with the little bitty hole is heavy.

Both are 24” rifles and they are heavy. If heavy is what you want the Uberti 66 copies are top of the class. In my experience I would rate accuracy as average for nothing special .22’s and quality control problems top of the class as well.
