First Match and question

I shot my first smallbore cowboy match on Saturdayusing my Marlin 39A. What a blast. After solving some sight adjustment problems in the first relay I came back with a decent score for round two.
I'm using a globe front sight and a Lyman peep for the rear. I hear there are some more fancier front globes (olympic style) but they are now banned. Is this correct?
I'm hooked on Cowboy.

Al, That's the rear sight, right? How about the front sight.

Most everyone uses the Lyman globe front sights at the matches that I've seen. The inserts that the Lyman sights come with aren't exactly the best in the world, though. I currently use a Lee Shaver insert with a thin post and bead just big enough that I can see white all the way around it on the body of the turkeys. It almost looks like a dot in a scope. :)

Pete, The Williams is for the rear. I use a Lyman 17A globe on the front. On my 30-30 though I use the Lyman 90 series globe on the front. Al

Yes you did real good, after you listened to your pal on which way to adjust your sights... Never doubt me again :D

Bob,
I'll be forever grateful but I still beat you in the second match.

I never thought I'd see someone shoot that well, with their eyes closed lol....
