Kevinbear, Dennis C, Jerry G, and Trent. What are good varmint bullets for an AR? Main use would be prairie dogs.

I like the 55gr HPs in my 223. They make a mess out of a p dog and break up in little pieces when they hit the dirt mounds. My AR with the 55s are good to about 300m. The hawks and eagles clean the place up after we are done. Don't mess with them after you shoot them, they can carry some bad stuff.

Jerry G,
A place near me has Hornady 40gr v-max ammo in stock. Do you think it is too light? Going online tonight to see what is available.

They should do just fine on p dogs. They are a little short so whatch your load work-up.

Jerry G,
Purchased some 55gr varmint bullets in .223. Together with the .204 Ruger the little prairie dogs shouldn't stand a chance. I will let you know how I do when I get back. Thanks again for the advice.
