Smallest Caliber for Long Range CLA
Just curious - what do you think is the smallest caliber that could be successful in the long range (200 yard) matches?
I've seen 32-20 make a good showing - as good as .357 - just wondering what else might make the cut.

Not a lot of choices of calibers that will take the 200 rams 100% of the time. I have seen shooters use 44 mag, 45 LC, and 25-35's, the 25-35 is accurate, flat shooting and if the rams are not too heavy and set properly will do the job. Ron Troyer uses one and has won several National championships with it.snaketail2 wrote:Just curious - what do you think is the smallest caliber that could be successful in the long range (200 yard) matches?

IMO, it's not 100% reliable on rams on every range or day, (but neither is a 30-30)... However the 357Mag can be a good dual purpose PCCLA/CLA rifle. Info on using a 357mag for CLA at the following links:
