Reasonable match fees for HP matches?

Having never run any type of silhouette match and only attending one HP match (which was a regional), I am wondering what might be considered a reasonable entry fee for a regular club 40 shot registered HP match? Any ideas on how much should be budgeted for supplies (paint, in-a-row pins, etc.) might help me back into an answer but also any info regarding your current local club match fees would be helpful as well.
TIA,
Kid

I've only shot highpower silhouette matches at Pe Ell, WA, but I believe that each match is $10, so $20 for the combo hunter/standard match day. That doesn't count tips for target setters, which is usually at least another $10 or so, as setting highpower targets is a lot more work than setting smallbore targets. These amounts are for the monthly NRA-approved matches. I don't remember what the fees are for the annual state highpower matches, which I believe are registered matches.

Jason... You are too young to be paying people to set your HP targets!! I actually prefer setting my own targets. To me it is a big part of the experience.
From my experience HP match fees reflect that of Smallbore for the area. $7 per rifle seems pretty standard.
You can expect to see a few less 5 and 10 in a row pins for high power than you would for smallbore. I would say a lot less.

Kid, my match fees are quite reasonable. Ten dollars for one gun, five more for the second gun. So, $15.00 for both guns. My club is a not for profit organization. They set a loose 50/50 rule for all competitions held there. I send them half or more of my collected fees and award the rest to the shooters. I hold back a few dollars each match for paint, supplies for the truck, gas etc. Trent is right, not too many pins given out at HP matches here. We used to charge $17.00 for two guns, but hey we are in a resession so I reduced it a few years ago. The fees are the same for SB here in CO.

You should see the system they have at Pe Ell. They have quads for the kids, same high school athletes that set smallbore targets for the Conard Cup, and bunkers for them to hide in downrange. They are
fast at getting those targets set back up, and I don't mind paying more for the matches to run to quickly and smoothly. It also provides a source of a little money for the kids, and there aren't a lot of ways for them to make money in a small town like that.

Clean 10-X what Jason said, PLUS!!!...and, the kids get to see how much fun, as well as challenging competitive, shooting is. They are our future. Without them competitive shooting is toast in this country no mater what the politicians do with respect to gun laws. Our best defense against that is more and more youngsters that love to hunt, plink and compete. Parents and adults, start your engines, the race is on for keeping competitive shooting alive and well in the good'ol USofA.

I'm running a quasi-monthly local highpower match this year and I'm going to charge $10/person ($10 gets you both a standard and hunter match). We're going to set our own targets unless I can ever get my automatic-reset target system to work.

You guys are killing me....we charge 20 for the first match 10 for the second if you take both. We have 4 target setters paid by the hour with workers comp and a range vehicle. I don't like fooling around ....we start at 10 am and shoot two 40s and generally are done by 3pm with a 30 minute lunch break.......are you guys living in an alternate economy?

I want to be there

Sounds like yours is just running a lot more like a business, complete with employees. All of the matches that I have been to have kids/teenagers for target setters that get paid with tips.

If we paid in tips....the setters wouldn't get paid enough.....i hate to say it but silhouette shooters tend to be cheap.

...except for BPCR guys...they are generous almost to a fault. We're stuck running it like a business....the Club is way too large and we have all manner of competitions...hell we even got paved roads

Holy crap..30 bucks? Once in a while a club member shows up to get his yearly work bond day done by setting up targets. I stick him on rams for the whole day.

We usually have 6-8 club members doing the same thing for our state match. For our monthly club match the rule is you knocked them down so you set them up again. And you have to pay $15.00 for that privilage.

Don't forget to mention Jason that we have a smallbore match the weekend after turkey day for the sole reason of giving the target setters an early xmas. From what I've heard this has helped fund the Pe Ell football program in lean years past.
I sure as hell wouldn't want to climb that mountain up to the high power rams. Hell we wouldn't be done shooting a 40 shot match until dusk if the kids and Gary's quad weren't out there in the bunkers.

That's the way I like it!
Snake is putting on matches at a BR club though... those crazies are used to pulling fists of money out of their asses for the privilege of shooting a competition. Silhouette is probably budget shooting to them. They probably trip over themselves running over to shoot a cheap $30 match.

Boys, ....its 30 for two matches.....we shoot 2 40's. I charge 20 for the first so I make payroll...10 for the 2nd ...you're betteroff shooting 2...15 apiece and somebody else sets your targets, we have flush toilets and showers, air conditioning just behind the firing line, and provisions either via vending machine or the 4h.....read again...its TWO matches for 30

Almost forgot we offer a splinter removal service for Trent ;)

That's still double what a lot of us are used to paying. You're right though, we can be some cheap bastards.
I guess us Coloradans aren't quite as "soft" as you Missouri guys and don't need all those fluffy amenities. Although, we do have an outhouse for those of us that want some privacy when conducting "business".
(I still think of myself as a Colorado Crew temporarily transplanted in the Deep South)
