New to Cowboy actions

Post by MrSkoorb »

Hi All.

I just picked up a new in box Winchester 94AE in .44 Magnum. I reload my own stuff and was wondering if anyone has had consistent results shooting .44spc hand loads and if so, do you have a good list of load data?

I practiced last weekend and after 25 rounds of .44, I had to stop!

Thanks for the input!

Dave

You don't have to reload as if they were factory loads. I shoot a 357 and it barely kicks but has enough energy to knock down the animals with consistency. I'm sure someoene will write in with some 44 loads for you. Welcome to Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette.

I use 6.5 grains of W231 with a 240 grain Lazer Cast RNFP bullet in the .44 mag case. My rifle is a Marlin Cowboy in .44 magnum and shoots very well. I got about 1060 fps with a Chrony.

When I shot the 44mag I was using 9.0 grains of unique with A 180 grain jacked bullet. I was using A marlin cowboy and this load was very mild and accurate. Welcome and enjoy.

G'day Dave
I shoot a 94 Winchester in .44mag and have found 7 grains of Trailboss behind 210gr and 245gr cast bullets to work well in CLAS pistol cal events. Very mild to shoot with good accuracy.

Thanks to all for the skinny! I'll work the loads and test them.
