Looking to get one of these scopes, which one would be best for ocassional silhouette shooting and 50 yd informal target shooting (no hunting) I will be mounting it on a CZ 452 American and I dont want to have to buy different mounts to get on target at 100m,also which reticle would you recommend. Thanks.

6-24, you will probably never go down to 6 but you may want to go above 16. Reticle is a personal choice, 1/2 min dot would be my preference.

I would go to the 6-24. 3/8 or 1/2 minute dots are just right in my opinion.
Some people claim that they reduct their wiggle with less power but they are just BSing themselves. The wiggle is there no matter what the power. Make sure you don't get 1/8 minute clicks on the elevation adjustment. You will go from 0 on the chickens to 8 or more on rams which is more than one revolution on most 1/8 minute click scopes and it is way to easy to loose your place when you go over a revolution.

You can double check me but I believe the V24 has 1/8 minute adjustments. The V16 that I have has 1/4 minute adjustment, goes from 0-12 MOA, if the V24 has 1/8 MOA adjustment that mean you would only have 6 MOA per revolution. You would have to send the scope to T K Lee to have a larger dot installed, the only one available from Weaver is a little small for silhouette as far as I am concerned.

The V16 is a great scope. I have one mounted on each of the two CZ452s my kids shoot.

More reticle choices with the V16. To me if you need 24X you should be using a fixed scope or at least step up another league in cost for a 24X variable. The 16X to 24X is where the scope is really straining. Dot size has much more to do with your personal eye quality. I have seen guys shoot like a house afire with a 45X Leupold with fine dot. I myself on the other hand need a basketball anymore.
