Want to give y’all a “heads-up” for the Smallbore Rifle & Hunting Rifle Silhouette activities of the balance of 2012. Regular monthly matches will be held on Saturdays - 21 July, 18 August and the
Tennessee State Smallbore Rifle & Hunting Rifle Silhouette Championships will be Saturday, 29 September. Monthly matches will also be held on Sunday, 21 October and Saturday 17 November. That will conclude the fun for ’12.
Granny Clingan has spent last winter with the help of several of the
Chattanooga Rifle Club members, spit-shinin’ the range for us. The State Championship format will be the same as the last six. If it’s workin’, don’t fix it. We did, however move to September to see how the weather is that month. We have fried at five matches in August and liketa froze our buns off last year in October.
Rumor has it we may be giving a fairly cool door prize, but the final decision will most probably come a little later. Guess ya gotta be there to find out.

Oh I forgot, you sleep in strange places! No actually you do need to plan a trip by the City Cafe, even if you don't stay at the hotel, but be prepared to split a meal with someone, or just get an appetizer.

Mary, I'm actually going to Nashville to pickup a 1963 Shasta AirFlyte travel trailer on Friday and then stopping in Chattanooga on the way back. No more sleeping in weird places for me!! I can't wait to be able to pull it up to a match with my 61 Cadillac. I need some cheap pink flamingos to decorate my camp spot. Haha.
Weirdest place I've ever slept… I once slept on top of a live torpedo for a two week stint in the torpedo room of a Fast Attack submarine. I do not recommend that. Until Serta starts making torpedoes I am going to have to say that it is the most uncomfortable sleeping arrangements ever.

Trent... Never, I repeat NEVER, have PPKNY make your reservations for you without you looking at them first. He booked us in a place in PA that had sheets on the windows for curtains and you had to sleep on top of the bed covers..... But he said it was a good price

Well....now you want to talk about weird places silhouette shooters have slept or stayed, get the match director for TN states going. Gator (Ed) has some great and not so great stories of his choices for hotels.
I want to make this match but it may interfere with that infamous four letter word, work, we shall see. If I don't make it, I'll have to buy a shirt, as I have made every TN states since Gator started running them, just for the
City Cafe!
LOL

Innocent, (kinda choke when I call you that) you’re referring to some of the central Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia motels that Pink 22 has been reminiscing about. It’s great to look back at some of the fond memories of the Patel family inns. It is all in remaining flexible and being willing to make some of the minor adjustments as conditions begin to deteriorate at the motel. Past experience helps and above all you need to make sure your vaccinations are up to date. You will learn to coordinate your shower such that there is no chance of being in the tub when the next room flushes. Basic hydraulic facts about fluids seeking their own level. Contrary to common belief, that stuff will not cure athlete’s foot. High octane distilled spirits seem to be beneficial in the case of either onset of depression or infection. In the morning the parking lot will be empty and the previous night will simply be a fond memory. Nothing to it and we saved $13.85 on the room. That’ll pay for breakfast.
Chattanooga ain’t like that….. Good fun, good food, good friends and hopefully good weather. Come shoot with us this Saturday and you'll see.
C yall

Gator, You have such an eloquent way of describing some of the finer Patel establishments. And yes I must agree, Chattanooga is not like that at all, nice cleam rooms, great food, good company, and the BEST desserts.

Well I am in Chattanooga holed up for the night at a local hotel. Looking forward to meeting some new people tomorrow. I'm pulling a REALLY ugly camper back home from Nashville. It's in serious need of restoration. And it's full of angry wasps evidently!
