The Winnsboro air rifle and smallbore matches the first weekend in June will live on in conjunction with David and Jerry's party! As of now, the shooting format will be substantially the same. It will be a great match. David and Jerry are behind it all the way and have given us permission to continue to call the match the Southern Nationals. What does everyone think? Should we stick with "Southern Nationals" or go with something else? Please vote in the poll above. If you vote for something else, feel free to leave a comment with your suggestion for a name.

The Southern Nationals, as we have known it and weither you like it or not, has died, thus this years 'Last Dance' and Next Year's original plan for a party only. So in effect 'Memorial' is fitting. As Ducky said, "that is perfect. Tie in with the old and start with the new!"

This was only my suggestion to help stimulate some thought on it, I have no vote on what it is called, but thought it was fitting for the new start.

Dustin, My advice to you is to accept the death of the Southern Nationals as we have known it. Let it go out in the blaze of glory that has carried this match for so long. I do not envy you and Jerry trying to step into the shoes of running a match that has been so well run as the one done by Jerry, David and Robin, only three names of sooooooooo many behind the scenes that have made this match what it has been. A memorial match is only a fitting name, it even follows the tradition of the Pat Steiger Memorial Golden Cow Patty Award and we all know Dear Old Dad is not dead yet!

As a matter of respect, I think the name "Southern Nationals" should be retired.

Since this will continue to be a regional championshp, I would like to suggest a name with a Louisana flair.

The "Gator Regional", or "Cajun Regional" would certainly work.

But I like the sounds of "The Mardi Gras Smallbore Rifle Regional Championship"! Costumes would be optional. Beads could be awarded.....

Invitational indicates a invite only match, haven't seen one of those in years.

Twice Ducky! I could have taken the Token Democrat harassment but the only rifle in my locker right now is a Remington 504 and I figured the harassment for that would have been epic.
