Caught the bug and have been wanting to shoot CLA for several years, so just won an acution for a Marlin 39 Century Limited with 20" octagon barrel, 1970 vintage. Have been reading about the rule change about the Redfield sight being legal, and noted what look like 2 sight mounting holes for this type of sight base on the left side of the receiver.
Searched the web plus E-bay and Gunbroker and saw a couple types. Would appreciate help on which of the Redfield sights would be prefered.
Planning on calling Outback Gun Parts tomorrow to talk to them about bases.
Also made the plung and have a Marlin 1894CB (.32 H&R Mag), looking at setting up and would appreciate any similar info for sight set-up with the Redfield as well, but want to start out in Small Bore CLA. Have a couple of clubs in the Denver area where this is shot and looks like good people and good fun.
Thanks much!

Steelshooter, its hard to say which Redfield 75 you are talking about. Basically there are two of them one with the dog leg arm for rifles like the Remington model 540XR target rifle which some people favor for use on their Winchester .22 and .22 magnum.
The other one has a straight arm and that one may have several variations but for all intents and purposes you can use any of them with an attaching base to Marlin 336, 1894 and 39A rifles and also Winchester 94 rifles.
The problem with some of those Redfield mod 75 sights when used in HP rifles is that they are not wide enough and may not offer enough windage adjustment.
As a point of interest I will tell you that Redfield also made other sights for lever action rifles model 70's and 80's that have an integral base.
Stay away from any of their target/match sights like the Olympic, International and Palma because they are not allowed in Cowboy Lever Action.
Outback Gun Parts is a good outfit and I know they can make receiver bases for the Redfield Mod 75.
I also have a friend that makes Redfield 75 bases for several of the lever action rifles we use in competition and may have a sight or two for sale. In case you are interested to talk to him you can send me a PM.

Lone Ringer PM sent should have read Redfield 75...
Contacted Outback Gun Parts this morning, and the gentleman there was really helpful. Have a sight base for the 39 and 1894 coming.
Managed to pick up a like new Redfield 75 aned now on the hunt for the second. Looking forward to my 1st match! Got some trigger work to do and a front sight to mount.

I know this is an old post. Wondering if steelshooter can give an update? Helping a new shooter set up a 39A. Brownells shipped Marbles tang #991021 and there are no detents when you turn up and down thus no real way to count clicks. ALU Lyman 66MC is less than positive clicks. All steel 66MC take time to locate. I think we might try a 75 just because they are available. But, how do I find a block that will fit the 39A?
Thanks!

By chance stopped by the forum tonight and saw this.
There are two ways to go, the second more expensive, but more true to "stock".
I now have a couple of the Redfield 75's and for a sight that cost $7.75 in its day, it sure puts the current stuff to shame. Picked up 3 NIB off Gunbroker and several spare parts.
In my search for a period correct sight, ran across a Redfield ad on E-bay, and the right model is a 70 OMT (target) ro 70 OMH (hunter knobs).
You can get some spare parts off Numrich Arms for these as well, if in need.
Now if you want to go the 75 route, contact:

Don't bother with his website, just call. He made up a real nice pair of bases to fit the 75 and a 39A and a 1894CB I have, those work like a charm too.
But then I found ths really sweet 39A 1948 vintage, and it had a mint 70 OMT attached on Gunbroker, and now has a new home!
Good lucK!
