CZ 452 Silhouette Stock Modifications

Has anyone tried to modify the CZ452 SIL stock to fit a taller/larger shooter? I have just purchased and started shooting this model and it feels like I am shooting a "youth model". I have seen some info on this forum about adding slip-on cheek pieces and recoil pads but would really like do do something more permanent. It appears that the butt pad is glued or maybe ultrasonically welded to the stock. Has anyone ever tried to take one off? Can this be done without destroying the stock (or the butt pad)? Also, once the pad is removed, what am I going to find in the stock? Is it a foam-filled plastic shell? I know there are other options as far as replacement stocks but they are expensive - just trying to get a little info to find out if is worth the effort to modify the factory stock before I tear into it...

Thanks,
Stephen

Send PPKNY a note. He modified his CZ Silhouette for a longer LOP by adding a spacer he made.

Acording to the current rules.......... You can do a lot of mods to your stock as long as it looks like a sporter of some sort. No thumb holes and make sure you can put a cleaning rod thru it without taking it out of the stock. I'm not sure who is the 'ace' that says it looks like a sporter stock but he lurkes in the shadows somewhere waiting for you to do something that doesn't look like a sporter.

Heat up the butt pad and it comes right off. Use some silicone to glue it back on. I have taken it off many times to add weight in the stock.

Use a hair dryer to take the but pad off. Also the inside is solid, so some hollowing out is required to add weight.

Don't listen to CZforLife... he's just a little guy and wouldn't know anything about needing a bigger gun... =))

Some have been known to call me short! =)) And if ya want more weight up in the front of the stock you are able to hollow out some spots under the barrel aswell. I think I used #9 shot when we did mine. Lead fishing sinkers also work fairly well. :-bd

Hey czforlife, are you shooting at Gateway in Jacksonville in that photo? I shot my first shoot there this past weekend, had lots of fun! I also shoot a 452 silhouette and plan to start modifying it soon, looks like there's a lot of good advice on here.

Here's what you'll be looking at when you get the butt plate off.

Dan,
Yes that is Baby Huey at his first away match in Gateway this last spring. His first time shooting with a vest as well.
Welcome to the crazy sport and try to keep Hugh and Lynette on the straight and narrow!!

Hey Huey, how come you didn't me give credit for the idea of drilling out your butt in my garage?

Where's Byron when he is needed?

Sounds like poor Byron was tossed to the gutter in favor of BH doesn't it.
