Well, I took everyone's advice for my first gun, sort of... ; )

I was looking around at the local gunstore and spotted a CZ 452 LUX and bought it.

First off, I LOVE this gun, it is so darn accurate. As you may also know, it has iron sights, which are also extremely accurate and I am a real lover of iron sights.

That being said, it does not appear that anyone can really compete with iron sights (correct me if I'm wrong!) in this game, so I'll need to get a scope.

My real question is, can I keep these nice iron sights on the gun and still put a scope on? How would one do this?

Congratulations on your rifle, you will not regret having such an accurate toy.
The answer is yes, you can keep the sights on and still mount a scope. I bought one of the first 452LUX many years ago as a novelty (go ahead and laugh guys, I'm still adding to my collection as we post!!). I do not remember the mounts that I ended up with, I will look on it and see if there is a brand readily listed. It does mount the the scope a little high for me but then I have never been known to have a long neck.
As for scope vs. iron, the only place I see iron sights used anymore is in the lever action section. I was one of the last holdouts using irons until only about 8 years ago. While I still prefer to use them, the eyes are catching up and it is a lot easier with the scope.

Yeah, the LUX is cool, but it probably won't be my last gun either! ; )

I also like to shoot 10m air pistol, so there are truly endless ways to spend my (limited) money!

Hey Big Daddy, greetings from one newbie to another!

I don't actually have a CZ, but I came this close to buying a Lux model when I stumbled across a different gun in the "used" rack of my local gun shop. I'm still lusting after the CZ though (CZ owners just seem to be having so much fun) and may end up with one yet.... so I spend time looking at the pics and reading about CZs on this forum:

I've seen pics of several CZ-452s using the BKL dovetail-to-Weaver adapters, both to adapt the dovetail for the popular rings and to raise the scope a bit. If you combine that adapter with "tall" rings you should get the clearance you need. The adapters and rings are sold at the site above, but also are available from other vendors. Some of these vendors (Midway, in particular) give the dimensions and other specs of the adapters, rings, etc. Try looking at:

Check the 452 Style model. It has the same black synthetic stock as the Silhouette model, with a brushed nickel finish that looks like Stainless Steel.

Yeah, I have no experience with nickel, I wonder how it holds up over time vs stainless? It does have a nice stainless look!
