It was a remarkable day today at Colorado Rifle Club. We drew a record eight competitors, and our beloved Guru was unable to clench the win during a shoot off. Worse yet, he was beat by a 6.5mm shooter(Jim T.). Even worse yet... the 6.5 shooter was out of ammo and had to borrow the Guru's 7-08 which was promptly used to do the deed. Bob did seem to take some reprieve in the fact that he was not beat by a 6.5mm rifle, just the driver.
My sorry scores were not good enough to get in a shoot off with anyone. I poked a lot of 7mm holes in the dirt though.

A wise old man once told me, "don't shoot dirt" but sometimes it is a very difficult rule to follow.
I do hope it will be dry and warm at Lander this comming weekend. It was miserable last year.

Nothing like the whipping with your own rifle...especially when the whipper is a true HP shooter and uses real size bullets.

I hope you all have good weather up there too. It has been real stormy here in Denver the past 2 weeks but it looks like it is going to pass through by the weekend.

Sad but true story.

Jim had just enough ammo for a little practice and one match. I made the offer to use my own superior cartridge in my own rifle to establish a winner. I fired first and the shot went a half inch over the back of the turkey...DRAT !!
I then handed the rifle to Jim, and unbeknownst to him, reached into my back pocket and pulled out a heavy ram load. "Here you go, Jim" I said with a smile.

At the shot a cloud of dust erupted three feet high left of the bird. Ha ha, he missed big time I thought.
The damn target then did a half pirouette and fell to it's death.

It was a sloppy hit. The bullet barely shaved the top of the back and mostly impacted the berm above the target.
Congrats Jim....bring more ammo next time.

Just kidding about the ram load.
