2011 Season beginning in Chattanooga

Just lettin’ y’all know that the first match at the Chattanooga Rifle Club will be in a little over a week on Saturday, 16 April.
I will be in Brunswick eatin’ seafood and shootin’ Barbara & John’s Georgia State Championships but Dale “Granny” Clingan and Greg Hamilton will be handling the duties on Choo Choo town. Dale’s cell is (423) 240-0338 to get admittance at the gate.

MATCH SCHEDULE & PROGRAM

2011 Match Dates: 16 April, 21 May, 19 June, 16 July, 20 August, 18 September, 29 October (Tennessee State Championship) & 19 November. PLEASE NOTE. Due to scheduling restraints, all monthly matches are not held on the same week-end day (June, September, and October). Check the dates. All matches will be NRA Approved matches with the exception of the State Championship which will be NRA Registered and have its own program.Match Time: Practice begins approximately 11:00AM. The match starts at 12:00 Noon, or later if a shooter can be added without adding another relay.
Rules: Competition is open to all shooters. Current NRA Silhouette rules will apply. All competitors are required to have a current 2011 classification booklet to be eligible for awards. Cost $13.00. New (First time) competitors may shoot 1 match as a “Clinic” match (i.e. without a classification book). All competitors must have an “Empty chamber indicator” in their rifle when NOT on the firing line or when personnel are downrange. (NRA Rule 3.21) Classification books and indicators will be available. All competitors and observers on the firing line are urged to wear eye and ear protection.
Entry Fee: For the monthly matches, the entry fee is $4 per gun and competitors 16 years of age or under shoot free. This fee schedule does not apply to the State Championship.
Match schedule and conditions: The course of fire is 10 shots each on chickens at 40 meters, pigs at 60 meters, turkeys at 77 meters and sheep at 100 meters. Match will be fired in all weather conditions, unless lightning or severe weather is present.
Classification: NRA silhouette classification is used. Two competitors make a class. If there are less than 2 competitors in a class they will be moved up to the next class.
Awards: An award will be presented to the match winner (who will not receive a class award). An award will be given for 1st place in each class and an additional award for each additional three shooters in a class. 5 and 10 in a row pins will be awarded. AAA & Master shooters are not eligible for 5 in a row chicken or pig pins. Note: Award schedule is not applicable to the State Championship tournament. Separate awards schedule will apply.
General information: Running water and restroom facilities are available at the range. We have a soft drink machine. The firing line is covered. Bring a lawn chair.
Special Instructions: Entry to the Chattanooga Rifle Club property gate is limited to members only. Non-member competitors MUST contact Match Director, Ed Jones or Dale Clingan, prior to arriving, to let them know their desire to compete in the match. Before match day, contact Ed Jones or Dale Clingan at the numbers below, to make arrangements to be met and admitted at the gate on match day. They will be met at the gate and escorted to the proper venue. This may be accomplished by cell phone after 11:00 am on the day of the match, by calling (706) 897-2306 (Ed) or (423) 240-0338 (Dale). Do not follow another member through the gate. See attached map for range location and directions.

From the North and East: (Knoxville / Asheville )
Take I.75 South to Tenn. Exit 11 - then West for 0.1 miles to traffic lights at Motel 8 - turn left onto Hunter Road, (may not be marked !), for 3.7 miles - range is on the right.
From the NorthWest: (Dayton / Crossville / McMinnville)
Take TN.60 East to intersection with TN.58 - then South for 14.9 miles to Hunter Road - turn left onto Hunter Road for 2.4 miles - range is on the left.
From the South: (Dalton / Atlanta)
Take I.75 North to Tenn. Exit 11 - then as for Knoxville above
From the West and Southwest: (Nashville / Huntsville)
Take I.24 East to junction with I.75 - then take I.75 North to Tenn. Exit 11 - then as for Knoxville above.
