Tacoma Sportsman's Club - Range

The grapevine reports that the Peil Range, in the next few months, will be open to members for small-bore use during the week.
The intention is to allow opportunity for small-bore shooters to practice outside center-fire shooting, and to facilitate more family-oriented sessions.
However, the biggest motivating factor is to reduce the pressure on the public range, as well as, the member's only range thereby providing more revenue-generating opportunity. (This is in contrast to opening the range to the public. While possibly more revenue could be garnered, the impact and cost of managing it would likely be problematic.)

So, Why am I writing about this. I think it's best we stay out in front of this and provide a little leadership in terms of guiding how the range will be setup and used going forward to make sure any changes or problems are headed off at the pass, so to speak. Prepare to volunteer your time or donations toward projects that will be benefiting the range and its use. My oldest will be organizing his Eagle project around improving the range. It's the perfect time and opportunity to get things off to the right start.

If you have any ideas or access to equipment or materials, please advise me at your convenience. Much appreciated and thanks in advance. --MC

Great, "open to the public" does this mean were going to have to cover everthing in steel? :ymdevil: Or does this mean we who shoot silhouette are going to have to pay for projects to keep the range going because the general public trashes it during the week. And I can just see come sunday morning when we have to explain to someone who cant read that the range is closed for a match and tell them they can not shoot(fight waiting to happen b-( ). This is going to be fun =)) . Count me in on whatever you need help with Mike.

Large signage. Direct and to the point.

No center-fire ammunition. No .50 caliber. Rim-fire shooting only. THIS MEANS YOU DOOFUS! (in small lettering under "If you're thinking, does this mean
me? The answer is yes. Take the 300 wby to the public range".

Might get the point across if it's big enough. It's a great opportunity for those in P-county to practice during the week which I think will out weigh
any potential hassles but that's just my opinion.
