I'm shooting a CZ Varmint in AAA. The rifle shoots well, but its really uncomfortable to hold. I ordered a Boyd's JRS. It came in, but I don't like how it fits me. And the quality of the inletting was poor, with chipped edges. Its going back after I get the RMA.

I'm now thinking of getting a Richard's Microfit in Rollover style. It looks a lot like the stock on a Anschutz 1712.

Are there other reasonably priced alternatives? The price of a McMillan is out of my budget.

Go with the split finger Silhouette stock from Mark Pharr "Period!"

Though he's not in the stock making business, Leroy Squires who shoots out of the Benton Gun Club in Arkansas has done up a couple of (to me) impressive stocks for CZ's. I know he monitors this board, maybe he could give you a lead.

Concur with john, Leroy Squires does some great work and he knows how to fit them to you.

I have redone 4 cz 452 stocks so far and just bought another rifle I will have to redo the stock on. It takes a few rough shaped pieces of wood, good cabinetmakers wood glue, Bondo Pro gold, and lots of sandpaper in 150, 220, and 400 grits. Also about 40 hours time to work it out. then prime it with automotive grade sandable primer and paint with your preference of color paint.
Work involves creating a rollover cheekrest, and a pistolgrip that is flared more towards the trigger with a palm swell to place your hand in the same position everytime the gun is shouldered. The cheekrest is 1/8 inch below the centerline of the bore to comply with NRA Silhouette rules. The drop in the stock is not changed and the pistol grip should not be exactly 90 degrees of vertical from the bottom stock line.
Will try to get some pictures scanned into the computer to give some idea what they look like.
