BC just to let you know the ongoing bet that we have had for two years now with dinner and dessert on the table is getting very cold. You should show up at a match man, even Bob259 has had the time to take me out for dinner...be forewarned however that when on the road and the Commander calls you may be late gettng home.
In an attempt to set the record straight of some interesting tall tales being told by mid morning of the off day at Ridgway, I shall attempt to recount the story of our fearless F-Troop leader in distress.
Being the fine leader that he is Commander Kitty arranged a nice romantic dinner (for at least 15) in celebration of the fine shooting on Tuesday night at the country club outside of Brockway ( a short 18 miles from the range). In his usual style of making sure all his shooters were organized and all equipment was in its proper place and all that wished to attend this dinner knew how to get there or were safely escorted in fine limo style. Of course the Commander himself being excited about escorting not one but two lovely ladies, one being a very fine shooter, to this event failed to check the fuel level in his limo. Discovering this little inconvience just a few yards short of his dinner destination, he chose to enjoy the fine meal and great company while coming up with a plan to reach the nearest fuel distribution point quickly upon leaving the restraunt. Of course as we were departing he called on his back up to follow him to the local gas station about 4 miles away, telling me that when he got to the point of turning left he would proabably be able to coast to the nearest gas station. Seeing the fine silver minivan turn left, I chose to turn right to continue on my journey of seeing that Bob259 got back to his hotel...less than two miles towards the Royal ( where 259 was staying) we recieved a distress call from the Commander that the gas station was not in sight and he was beside the road with two lovely ladies that were getting chilly!
This caused the 259 limo to do an about face and head back to the stranded ladies! Upon arrival a quick call (20 minutes) to my roadside service discovered that there was not an open towing facility within 50 miles, and that they were spreading the search to 75 miles. Deciding that it would take less time for me to drive the fearless leader myself I chose to cancel the call and drive on with the Commander and 259 to the nearest Sheetz we took off arriving at the nearst station within in 5 minutes, only to find that they had NO gas cans. Volunteering to drive to DuBois to the Wal Mart (seeing as it was past 10:30) we took off..in what appeared to be the shortest route. According to the Commanders GPS we were on 114 feet from the nearest Wally World. Somewhere in the next 30 minutes of looking at all the wonderful Christmas lights on we decided that the GPS was not really very accurate, although the lights were very pretty. Needless to say Commander Kitty receieved several calls as to our whereabouts and why we were not back at the stranded vehicle.
The story gets better and I think I shall let the Commander and 259 chime in on the visit to Sheetz #2 with a truck stop!!
