BB/BC wagers

BC just to let you know the ongoing bet that we have had for two years now with dinner and dessert on the table is getting very cold. You should show up at a match man, even Bob259 has had the time to take me out for dinner...be forewarned however that when on the road and the Commander calls you may be late gettng home.

In an attempt to set the record straight of some interesting tall tales being told by mid morning of the off day at Ridgway, I shall attempt to recount the story of our fearless F-Troop leader in distress.
Being the fine leader that he is Commander Kitty arranged a nice romantic dinner (for at least 15) in celebration of the fine shooting on Tuesday night at the country club outside of Brockway ( a short 18 miles from the range). In his usual style of making sure all his shooters were organized and all equipment was in its proper place and all that wished to attend this dinner knew how to get there or were safely escorted in fine limo style. Of course the Commander himself being excited about escorting not one but two lovely ladies, one being a very fine shooter, to this event failed to check the fuel level in his limo. Discovering this little inconvience just a few yards short of his dinner destination, he chose to enjoy the fine meal and great company while coming up with a plan to reach the nearest fuel distribution point quickly upon leaving the restraunt. Of course as we were departing he called on his back up to follow him to the local gas station about 4 miles away, telling me that when he got to the point of turning left he would proabably be able to coast to the nearest gas station. Seeing the fine silver minivan turn left, I chose to turn right to continue on my journey of seeing that Bob259 got back to his hotel...less than two miles towards the Royal ( where 259 was staying) we recieved a distress call from the Commander that the gas station was not in sight and he was beside the road with two lovely ladies that were getting chilly!
This caused the 259 limo to do an about face and head back to the stranded ladies! Upon arrival a quick call (20 minutes) to my roadside service discovered that there was not an open towing facility within 50 miles, and that they were spreading the search to 75 miles. Deciding that it would take less time for me to drive the fearless leader myself I chose to cancel the call and drive on with the Commander and 259 to the nearest Sheetz we took off arriving at the nearst station within in 5 minutes, only to find that they had NO gas cans. Volunteering to drive to DuBois to the Wal Mart (seeing as it was past 10:30) we took off..in what appeared to be the shortest route. According to the Commanders GPS we were on 114 feet from the nearest Wally World. Somewhere in the next 30 minutes of looking at all the wonderful Christmas lights on we decided that the GPS was not really very accurate, although the lights were very pretty. Needless to say Commander Kitty receieved several calls as to our whereabouts and why we were not back at the stranded vehicle.

The story gets better and I think I shall let the Commander and 259 chime in on the visit to Sheetz #2 with a truck stop!!

Okay - where in this story are you whipping my sorry carcass for dinner? Again? Every time I offered dinner you were washing your hair so heck, message received, ma'am!

Bet I can wash my hair faster than you!!! As short as the last 'stylist in training" cut it...but then what do you expect for free cuts at the college training center.
Now as to where I will take your carcass...depends on where the Commander needs me to go, somehow I think a tour of Christmas lights in July in Western PA while his lovely bride and granddaughter gaurd the van and rifles beside the road are not in his plans. Something about trying fo find a dog house on a golf course just doesn't work.

Why do I suspect the Commander had a long trip home?

I like Innocent Mary's version of this story so much that I'm not going to try to improve on it...other than to say that I have checked with my Dr. and there is no medication that can fix stupid

Now Commander...I left the check out at Sheetz #2 part of the story to you and 259 as you were the two that were there the whole time, I was only coming in late to make a comment about the team color on the gas can. As for the stupid part, I think you two can contribute to true definition of stupid in that description.

BC....I am giving them the opportunity to set the record straight on what happened at the check out with the smart sales clerk and the even smarter sales clerk, as I had taken the time to stop at the restroom after the short tour of the Christmas in July light show in central western PA.

Lets see….. Other then the fact that Innocent took us on the scenic tour of rural PA and about a 40 mile round about way of getting to Dubois the counter conversation at Sheetz was almost not funny. First off they had no ‘gas’ cans and only a 5 gallon Kerosene blue container. At first they were not going to sell it to us because you cannot put gas in a Kerosene container…. After explaining that we were out of gas back up the road and they had no gas containers, they had a discussion and said well if they write ‘Gas’ on the container with a marker we could ‘probably’ do it… (to be honest at this point there was no probably about it in Kitty’s and my minds). So the smart one found a marker and wrote GAS on the side, he wanted to know if we wanted it written bigger, we said no that was fine.

So we then need to get gas at the pump. The clerk said what pump are you at, we said we’re not… that really confused her, she said well you have to be at a pump… that’s when the ‘smart one’ said they are out of gas on the highway remember, so we picked the closet pump and said we are at pump number 3…. They then asked how much do you want… Kitty said OK give me $15. We were about a $1.49 short of the $15.00 but at that point we said if we go back it will take 30 min. to explain this all again to just get the change…. Shortly after that, another exciting adventure of TPK was over and all were safely tucked in bed.

And y'all make fun of us...

Tell 'em you're Arkansas Amish and your lanterns ran out of kerosene just down the road. That will really confuse 'em. Then at the gas station ask them how many gallons of gas a five gallon kerosene can will hold.

You all just don't know how hard it was to keep my usual calm and benevolent manner through all the writing on blue cans and wanting to know what pump we were at....makes you wonder just how much funnier Jeff Foxworthy's stuff would have been if he had been from the north instead of the south..... :D

Lesson Learned

The lessons learned by Commander Kitty from all this are;
1) The 'Low fuel' light/indicator is not a Happy Face on the dash to be ignored
2) When the car message board say's '0' miles till empty, it really means that
3) It's worth it to take the time to get gas when your in town and in the middle of no where
4) In the hills of PA it's best to have your own fuel can, if not good friends to save the day are required

And kerosene cans will hold gas in a pinch?
