Question#2

Men of vision, men of insight, answer me this question and I will wrap a towel around my head, take a hammer, pound some sort of a stone in my forehead, sit on a piece of carpet, munch on nothing but curry, and bow to ya for the rest of my life (not really). Question: One of the ones that was complaining was the State Champion in I think Standard Rife that year. How could someone win and still bitch?

Jim, I have a friend that isn't happy unless he's bit*hing about something or someone 100% of the time... (try to limit contact with him even with his wife trying to pay me to get him out of the house)

One person said and I believe had it right.

If you gave 10 people (at work) a $100,000 bonus
8 would thank you and be humbled and work harder
1 would say they didn't deserve it and offer it back
and...
1 would forget about what they just got and say they got screwed and it should have been twice that amount and so and so didn't deserve anything as he did all their work

Moral: You can never make everyone happy... :ymtongue:

The individual you are talking about clearly fits int that last catagory ;)

But I do like Kitty's reply and we should all check with the wives and ask that question %-( #:-s

Jim,

Jerry and I have had our share of people complaining about something at the Southern Nationals for twenty years. Some things never change. I could give you many examples of what we consider BS complaints; however, being from a retail grocery store background, I just listen to them and tell them that we will consider their comments. That seems to please them.

I do know that Jerry and our Gun Club try to do the very best that we can to make everyone feel welcome and to put on a fair match. As far as I know, we are the only match that has disqualified cheaters!

We will listen to anyone with an idea as we do not profess to know everything about running a match. We have stolen most of the ideas that make the Southern Nationals what they are.

I certainly respect each and every match director. I will tell you if I think that you can do something better, but do not really care if you do not change things as I will support you.

Every group has at least one prima donna. They seem like wasted energy, but as Ducky points out it is pointless to reason with them so just make make polite, non-committal noises that let them feel influential.

Anyone that agrees organize and operate a match, let alone a major match, deserves respect and deferential treatment. Abusing them with whining is a waste of energy they could better use in organizing something even better for next time...

I don't travel around like I used to, but when I did, I was always glad that someone else was willing to put forth the work and the effort to put on a match, not only for me, but for everyone else that showed up. Ducky, I was at a state HP match in Tucson, one year where a gentleman who was confused with the rules was sent packing. Another time at a SB match there, a competitor was told basically hey pal don't do that again.

JB....Ducky is serious about disqualifying and so far all that have been aware of any dq have supported the Sgt. and surprisingly the shooter tends to not show up again, but then who needs that type of person in a game. I have seen him dq one who crossfired purposely in a shoot off, because he wanted a specific prize and he waited until all others had shot then crossfired so he knew where he would end up.....then he was stupid enough to brag about it.
