Took the new cz452 and a new friend to Haltom City clubs fun match today.. very good time, great bunch of people.
Rifle had just arrived Friday afternoon, and they went to of thier way to help and make time and bench space for me to get it sighted in.
Big Thank you! for that.
Just great fun, but heres the deal.... we shot at pistol sized targets.. I saw some of the "real" targets, and omg....thats going to be a big fat 0 score for me !!! scored a 39 out of 60, better than I thought I might do, with no real offhand experience. Even when hunting I use a shooting stick.
It will be a HURRY UP AND GET HERE for the next fun match a month away!!

Timbertoes...welcome to the addiction, don't worry the real targets will start to look hittable before long, with all the coaches you will have at Halthom.
Look forward to seeing you at a match soon.

There is a club in MT that start their new juniors on the pistol targets and verry soon that they want to shoot at the rifle targets. I have never been beaten by so many young shooters in my life. Stick with it even if you are not a junior.

I wasn't sugesting that you were a junior, just new to the sport.
Somany people showup at a match, shoot a low score at the regulation targets and never come back.

Your typing to a guy that plays Golf.
Seeing the Regulation chickens...put a lump in my throat. Then again my first Skeet and Trap scores were not very good. Not good at all!
I have a good competetive spirit. Though honestly, If I really am no good, just horrible lousy, at it after a year or two..yes, I could see the .22's gathering dust.
Maybe I can talk to the guys at the Garland range about it, and get a temporary paper target set at some correct distances. if nothing else, there is 50 and 100 yards, I think standing offhand will be ok... dont know, that may be the biggest problem, they may not allow it?
The Garland range is about 10-12 minutes from work.
have used a lot of ink printing out some silhouette animals
I Coyote hunt a lot in the Fall through Jan/Feb. Let them mate and rear young during the rest of the time. In the Heat..well, I dont like Chiggers, Snakes and Ticks. Always looking for a good social time when its sunny and warm

There are some youngsters hanging out here that can tell you that silhouette sharpens your hunting skills, too. Hang in there!
