I have a TX200 on order and I thank you folks on this site for help in its selection.

I will be shooting silhouettes and I would like to apply myself and become at least respectable at this sport. I know that I want to get a scope for the TX200 but have not selected one. Basically I want to avoid the expense of getting one then upgrading to what I should have gotten. I do not expect that the scope will make me a good shooter, just that it should not be an issue in my development. In other words, the same thinking that got me to the TX200.

So, its a medium recoil springer. Given the nature of air rifle silhouettes, what would you recommend in a scope?

Leupold 6.5x20 EFR or a Bushnell 4200

CAUTION. Make sure you can make weight with the gun, rings, scope combo. I know both Bob259 and my TX200 are really close to the 11 lbs. max. Ring selection is critcial.

If you can hold a X24, get one of the Leupold 24br D. you can focus them down to a few yds for indoor practice and they are light, most TX's are very close to the limit, not that any one other than me has ever weigh it. The 6.5 to 20 EFR is a great scope but will take you over the top weight wise, and min focus is a little iffy for indoor 10 meter or less distance and is not as bright. If you are not going to any regional matches were they have equipment ck put on a 18-40 Leupold with Burris signature rings, way over the top weight wise but the balance of the gun is fantastic.
Congratulations by the way i think it's by far the best springer out there, if you ever need it "tuned" Jan Krainer in Nj will blue print it, he will custom make all the parts to fit perfect, replace the spring with a Macarrie realign the cocking mec, re work the trigger, when you press the trigger you wont know it has gone off, makes them into target guns.

slowstdy, What model fixed mag leupold are you suggesting. I looked through their most recent catalog and don't see a 24x. Thanks for any in sight.

They don't make them anymore you have to buy used, you should be able to find a good one for around $400.00. 24 BR.D are a little better than 24BR.

If you're starting off...a KT-15 is not a bad idea either...Weaver KT-15....no longer mfg but around on various normal websites.

As for the KT-15 I have one on my RF gun and the paralax on the chickens is poor at 40 meters. Check weavers book I think it says 50 yds is its min.

I dug out the gun with the weaver KT-15 scope on it today. It has an AO the claims the focus down to 30' but it is somewhat blurry for me. You may want to find one before you buy to compare for yourself.

My TX200 wears a Bushnell Trophy 6-18. It's pretty bright, and not too expensive. Repeats well.
It came as a replacement for a broken 16x, and I've never felt the need to replace it.
I can't usually hold more than 15-16x.
I think Sightrons are rated for springers. Natchez has been selling 6.5-20x42s for $299, a steal. I have one of these on my Anschutz SSP.

You all may laugh at this, but I have a Center Point 4x16 on my Daisy SSP that I use for indoor practice. The scope is great for the money and is also magnum springer rated. I also have one on my springer that I use for squirells. The scope repeats very well, however, the optics could be brighter, but what do you expect for $70?

How is that TX200 working out?

I have both the AA TX200 MKIII and the ProSport.

The TX200 is setup for Field Target (FT) and wears a 4-16x Hawke SW30.

I find it a bit heavy for silhouette, and prefer the ProSport with it's 3-12x Barska Airgun scope.

I have had my Weaver KT15x fixed on my PCP for 15 years and don't have any problems with clear focused image from the 10yds to the 60yds that I shoot with it,
and find it the ideal power for airgun shooting.

I don't know how it would rate as a 'spring rated' airgun scope, though ?
