There are a couple in use down my way and they love em..I already use another rifle but have thought about adding one to the collection. Well made handsome looking rifle and they also shoot well...The price is right too.

yea Ive seen them online, and they look top dollar, just looking for some feedback and a little luck in finding a used one.

what about the brooks trigger or timney would they still be eligible for hunter class? is the factory trigger good enough out of the box?

They are good shooters and the triggers would be legal if you keep them set about 2 lbs.

great shooters out of the box. they need a timney trigger to be competitive IMO. I had one and shot some great scores with it that I've yet to reproduce with 1712 in Pharr stock. Sad but true :(

The only thing that makes a good shooter is practice, so pick a rifle you like, get a case of ammunition it likes, and practice. See, this is easy!

I used one for the past few years and they are great shooting little rifles. Ended up getting a 1712 in Pharr stock last week so I sold the CZ to a young lady shooter I think she is 13 or 14 and she tied me this past weekend with a 27/40 her first time out classifying. Luckily I beat her on reverse count. But I was thinking as I watched her shoot damn I hope she doesn't beat me 1st time out with my old rifle and have we wondering why I wasted all that $$$ on the 1712

If your new and don't know match two stage triggers or prefer a single stage for the money the CZ is plenty accurate for this game. As mentioned I know others that have taken months to improve their scores after going to a 1712 custom from their starter CZ. Shooting a lot of airguns with match triggers my curve is less steep and I already bested my old score with a 30 in hunter.

For the money they are hard to beat.

They are for the most part a CZ American in a synthetic stock which is a great starter gun. I have to believe the synthetic stock is molded better than many of the American wood stocks. CZ is kind of known for poor wood stock fits. I just got an American and mine has a great stock that only needed a little touch to get the barrel completely floated. I got it for my wife and she seems to handle it quite well.

The Silhouette should make weight with just about anything you want to put on it. The trigger definitely needs work but that is fairly easy. You can go the cheap route with a $10 Brooks and then when you think the trigger is limiting your ability you can upgrade to a Timney. If you get lucky some Brooks kits work really well. It is just luck with the tolerances of the individual trigger components and how the install goes.

I see the Silhouettes for sale rather often but many people pay way too much for them originally from local stores making used prices rather unattractive. You can usually get one online from Whittakers just as cheap as most used ones.

Picked up a CZ 452 Style which is the stainless/nickel version of the silhouette. Came with 2 mags, and brooks trigger kit, and rings. Should get it next week, also ordered BKL riser blocks. So I guess this is my new rig! Will be keeping my BSA 6-24 for the mean time, it tracked well last time I used it for a match so it will stay for a few more matches...

Figured I'd keep you guys posted, I finally got a leupold 12x with tt, and dot, so now it is complete.

Unfortuneately I havent shot it much, because im in college out of town, but my little brother (14) has and last match he nailed 20 out of 40. and finished third in the match. I thought it was really cool, he is the youngest competitor out there, most are married men, and my other brother (20) so yea.

Rifle is great, highly recomend it.!
