Practice 100 Eley

For those that bought some of Kathy's Eley Practive 100 in unoped cases. Have you opened them and looked at the ammo?
I just opened my first case and found 3 of the unopened bricks to have mixed lots
within the same sleeve and the remainder to
not be be the same speed as stamped on the unopened case.
One sleeve even has 3 different lots and speeds in it.
I have emailed Kathy and will wait and see what the result is - I am sure this will be worked out, but I just wanted to give you a little heads up as to what I found so you might want to check your unopened cases.

It was a disappointment when Eley discontinued the Practice 100 and they should not have mixed lots in the same case without saying so, but despite the cost it is practice ammunition and it is discontinued. I was really surprised to see that she had it at Winnsboro but the price sent me back to Target rifle and the Remington Eley that replaced the Practice 100 and is current production.

The four cases that I bought were as marked... all one lot#. I remember seeing a couple of cases with multiple lot# markings on them. This should not come as a big surprise, given how Eley grades and markets this ammo. If they have a few boxes of this and a couple boxes of that, Eley isn't going to case-up partial cases just to separate lot#s... that's part of the reason they downgrade this ammo to begin with. If they don't have enough of a given lot# to be a significant quantity, it doesn't get to be TenX. And we get to buy it for $525/cs instead of $1500/cs. And if we're smart enough to buy it at Winnsboro we don't get eaten up with shipping costs, either. If you don't like what you bought either advertise it on Benchrest central (those guys love this stuff), take it to Raton, or bring it back to Winnsboro next year. Given what ammo costs have been doing lately you stand a REAL good chance of making some money on it. Meanwhile, remind yourself that James and Cathy saw this ammo the same time we did. Bart hadn't had any opportunity to inspect it either... it came right out of the shipping container and into his van. Within an hour and a half, all 40 cases were gone. These are the folks that are going to a lot of trouble to bring us high quality ammo at really reasonable prices. They deserve our thanks and appreciation.

If the cases were marked with the different lot numbers, no harm no foul - you got good stuff. And if this is the way they're marking downgraded Tenex (I didn't know that either), you got a steal. I'm very grateful for Cathy & Co. hauling that stuff in and selling it at markdown. She already has my check for Raton delivery and I don't care if the lots are mixed!

Kathy is refunding my money and the ammo will be returned to her at the Benton Gun Club July 26th Match.
Turns out I saw one lot unmber at the bottom of the case on two of the cases and did not see the second lot number stamped at the top. MY IGNORANCE. The other two cases are single lot marked.
Anyone intersted in purchasing should contact Kathy and possibly pick it up while she is here if you are local.
What can you say other than Kathy is truely a World Champion LADY.

I'll second that. I got a few cases of the baby blue last year and could not believe how good it was. In fact so good I only use it for my prone shooting. So I was very happy to see my velocity sitting on Cathy's table at Winnsboro this year. I got the one case she had, and she arranged to have Zanders drop ship me four more. Altough this batch isn't quite as good as the baby blue, I'm more than happy to have it.

She probably won't have to carry that case home with her! That's some great ammunition.
And yes, she is definitely a good one.

I just Emailed her and she said she doesn't have any more of the downgraded Tenex left. I should have gotten some when I had a chance.
