Lokoing for an inexpensive starter gun. I want to set up in the back yard and practice for SB. I found a place with a B9 for $300. I'd like to keep scope and gun $500 or less. But I want it accurate enough so my misses are my misses.

Well it's a little more, not much, than what you are looking to pay, but I'd suggest an AirArms TX200.

Not only is the TX200 a good Silhouette rifle it is also good for Field Target if you get into that as well.

PCP is better, but that with the accessories is way out of your price target.

I too am looking for an air rifle to use in the Sporter class. I have a Walther for the Target and Open class.

Bass Pro and Gander Mountain has an assortment of Beeman, Crossman and Gamo air rifles. Does anyone out there have an opinion of any of these guns? (People here having an opinion? What was I thinking!)

Not the quality you need or would want (my opinion). Although we know of a new one that Crossman has developed and will come out soon it was at a local Field Target match and is in the field being tested I hear.

This has tweaked my interest. I've read about the lever cocking guns but the rules also say that a pre-charged system can be used in sporter. What do these guns look like? And, is anyone using them? Any help please.

(b) Sporter Air Rifle: Any unaltered factory sporter air rifle that is or was a catalogue item, readily available over the counter to the general public, weighing no more than 11 pounds, with scope and mounts. Rifles utilizing pre-charged systems of any kind other than 12.0 gram disposable C02 units are prohibited.

Bob259, Thanks, I guess my question needs clarification. What is the difference between the Sporter pcp and the Open class pcp other than the weight.
I don't inderstnad the pre-charged system that they mention in the rules each use and how they difer in the classes.
