Had a great time at the Eastern Nebraska Gun Club on Sunday morning, June 1.
Took a couple pics of the one that got away.
I was using up some old deer hunting ammo in 6.5x55 with 129gr SST bullets.
We have never lost a deer hit with this bullet, but it must have come apart too fast for steel critters.
As a side note, Buddy Kirk shot his 243 for the first time and never lost a Ram.
I believe he was using 115 Bergers or something.
His fell nicely.
Also, we had a whitetail roaming around the range by the pigs, and tried to zoom in on her.

I dunno, scooted that rear foot pretty good. Good sized foot on that animal. Is it regulation? The idea is to hit 'em a little higher and tip 'em. Just so's you know.

I don't know about coming apart. Maybe just a little light. 10 more grains and you'd uv had him.

Those feet do look to be oversize.........kind of like a snowshoe! The rule book says ram feet to be 4 inches wide , 5 inches long with a 10% variation to suit local conditions. I bet they stand better in a stiff wind and deep snow.

If they are wider than 4 inches this is working against the knockdown factor. I guess you can always let some of the foot hang off the back of the rail. Remind me to use my .300 Ultra Mag and 220 gr. MK's when I shoot rams at your range!

By the way...as for the anatomy on that particular ram....well, that is best left to be discussed "Behind the Berm".

I`m guessing that the shooters were inexperienced. No way a true rifleman would be caught that off guard.
