Score Books

Post by 375Short »

One of our silhouette family prints / duplicates NRA score books. Who might that be? I’m interested in purchasing a supply. It does make since to use them until full. Expiration each year seems an unnecessary expense and not environmentally friendly.

I would like to keep books for my two Silhouette clubs. I have grown tired of constantly chasing down my stuff and others with the NRA. No entries, wrong entries , cards not issued timely or ever. You eventually make contact, think you’re solving a problem and then the email thread you had been working with Aaron on just goes dead, like mid conversation. 🤷‍♂️ I surrender, the few folks I serve will have much more accurate records if I do it myself. Maybe match directors will be kind enough to honor the entries. Holding someone to the standard of having a current card is unrealistic and unfair. I sure don’t have current cards and I’m not talking recent changes, I’m talking a year of reminders to the issuing authority. That is not a fair, effective or reasonable standard to hold the vast majority of shooters to. I’m not even venting on a fresh wound but a half decade or more of frustration.

Said it over and over... the books were a simple solution to a complex problem. The current system is fine for older people who have been shooting for a long time and enter master on everything. People starting out... not so much.

Or said another way. as long as you don’t need anything or have extremely low expectations it works great. I read a 2018 post from Mr. Farmer that the Portal would be ready for match directors data input in a few months. If it was ready it has not been made available. We could go on and on complaining and offer solutions and time as well. It hasn’t changed the efficiency or accuracy of operations at the NRA end. Then there’s the lucky few that everything runs smoothly and have no idea that the dissatisfaction is warranted. I wish it was contagious.

At any rate. Anyone at a match I run needs a NRA class card, NRA score book or their word to enter classified. What dishonesty, if any, will become apparent. It’s only a game and dishonesty is rare if it exists at all in our sport.

The saddest part is people working on slams or rising through the classifications needing current cards for big matches Or perhaps needing a card to prove classification if challenged. Monitoring slam progress that relies on the NRA entering the data or replacing what they loose is a daunting task. Okay enough boohoo from me. I just need a supply of books so folks can keep their own traveling record that doesn’t require electricity, cell signal or NRA portal.

I'm just completing my 2nd year in this game and I have zip, zero, nada from the NRA. I'd gladly trade my NRA magazine and chinese made membership gifts for some accurate and timely record keeping.
I think the "old fashioned" score book is a great idea.

357 short, I'm the culprit.

I've been printing and distributing them at several big matches in Raton and Arizona for free.

send me a PM and I'll try and get you some.

Thanks, Dennis Ostler

Use the "score entry system" button to go to the easy score entry page.
(Optimised for mobile)

Use the:
"Score view/sort" button to go to the score view tabulator.

If you really love paper or shoot at a range without good signal.
Print out your sorted scores from home and bring a printed sheet.

Lots of folks using this.

For batch entries like a large event I set up each "Society Club" with thier own custom batch entry sheet.
