Henry Frontier sights?

Hello all.
A buddy of mine has decided to indulge himself in SB L/a silhouette shooting. Couldn't find a Marlin 39 so bought himself a Henry Frontier, 24" octagonal barrel.
Now he's asking for my advise - which model of Williams rear and Lyman 17 front should he be trying to track down?

Thanks,
49er

This is what I have on mine.

Front sight is a 17a. 17AMI. They are dovetail into the barrel so the 0.494 height should be good.

I had a Williams FP-GR-TK rear sight and a Lyman 17AUG with a small Lee Shaver bead insert in my 24" Frontier. I have a spare 17AUG sight if you have trouble tracking one down.

With a MVA Vernier rear sight on mine the Lyman 17AHB did not have enough height. With the rear sight set for the 40 meter chickens the top of the receiver was in view just enough to darken and blur the sight picture. I put the hard to find Lyman 17AUG on the rifle and all is good. The 17AML is easier to find and may be tall enough.

In a prior post (perhaps years ago) the 17 AML and 17 AUG were both recommended for the Henry Long Barrel (24"). The shooter commented that the 17 AML put his zero for Chickens near the zero on the Williams rear sight. The 17 AUG put his zero for Chickens near mid range on the Williams rear sight. If both are available it's just the user's choice. I went with the 17 AUG.
