2024 Western Lever Gun Championship/NRA National Lever Gun Silhouette Championship
Posted: Sat Nov 18, 2023 9:18 am
The 2024 Western Lever Gun Championship will be held at the Whittington Center, Raton, NM July 2-6 next year.
This match will be COMBINED with the 2024 NRA Lever Action Silhouette Championship. The match will encompass both the Western and NRA match.
The match format will be the same as the Western, in that we will have two 40 shot matches for Lever Action Rifle, one 60 shot match for Pistol Cartridge and one 60 shot match for Smallbore .22 Rifle.
July 2--Registration and Sight in
July 3--40 shot match LAR
July 4--40 shot match LAR
July 5--60 shot match PCR
July 6--60 shot match SBR
The horse and rider trophies given for the Western Match will be supplied again next year. In addition, the NRA will furnish medals for the matches along with the Jack Hill Trophy for the overall match winner.
We will have a shooters dinner on July 5 at 5:00 PM with nice door prizes for all registered shooters. Additionally, several rifles will be given away in a random drawing. We are also working on something special for the T-shirt for next year.
With the Western and NRA Matches combined, we hope to have more and better prizes than we have the past three years.
Now, we know some shooters will object to combining these two matches. Here are the facts:
1. The Whittington Center is committed to having the NRA National Lever Gun Match every other year.
2. If there are two separate matches, attendance at both matches will be diluted.
3. We need the support of the NRA. Without them, we would not be shooting. If you don't believe that, then you haven't been following the attempts by the gun grabbers to strip our second amendment rights to own and use firearms.
4. The NRA does not have the personnel to run matches, At this time, there is one person running the department. The NRA depends on the various clubs and individuals to operate the matches. They supply monetary funds to pay for some of, but not all, the match expenses.
Match Registration forms will be available after January 1. These will be emailed to all past shooters for the Western. If you want to be on the mailing list, send us an email and we will send you the information. jlc@everestkc.net.
We are expecting a record turnout for this match in 2024. If you have not attended the Western in the past, you are missing the Premier lever gun silhouette rifle match of the year. Why? It is a wonderful competition with fellow shooters, plus we will go out of our way to make sure you have a GREAT, FUN time!
