45-70 Lever Action Load Recommendations
I have a friend getting in to reloading with a modern lever action looking for load information for our sport.
I would imaging lite to moderate loads to 200 meters.
thanks, Dennis Ostler

I've come to believe that A5744 is the magic fairy dust of reloading powder and Western Powders has a ton of data for the 45-70. One of the Hodgon guys told me it was superb in any of the old black powder cartridges.
I've never loaded for 45-70 so I have no first hand knowledge. Just another option to explore.

I asked the same question when I was given that load. Answer is any bullet. I use 340, 350 or 405 grain cast lead bullets. Never rang a ram.
