A friend is going to shoot some high power matches with a .260 rem and 9" twist barrel. Do any of you have ram load suggestions? Probably can't shoot the heaviest bullets.

Thanks!

I've used both 123gr Sierra match kings over 38gr of RL15 and 130gr match kings over 44gr of 4831SC, for ram loads in my hunting rifle. While my rifles have an 8TR barrel, his 9TR barrel should stabilize either of those loads, though he may need to speed up the 130's by going with either 37gr of RL 15, or 45gr RL19...

I had a 260 sporter with a 1-9 twist I hunted with. It would not shoot 142 MK’s at all. It did however shoot 140 Gr bullets very well. I used Varget powder. I’d suggest starting around 36 gr’s and work up from there. 38.0 is about max for Varget with a 140-142.

My Savage Model 10 is a 1:8 twist but here's my loads if this would help:
140gr Sierra HPBT 40.5 gr 4831sc
140gr Sierra HPBT 36.5 gr Varget
123gr Sierra HPBT 37.5 gr Varget
I don't have numbers on the muzzle velocity currently. The 123gr perform well on the Chk/Pigs and the 140gr have no problem knocking down the Tky/Ram

39g VV N150 with any bullet shoots bug holes.
42g H4350 under 142 SMK if you can find this powder
36g Varget but P can get spikey with 140+ bullets
