Having a stock made for you as opposed to dealing with what you have...

This is what we do.

Having a stock made for you as opposed to dealing with what you have...

Post by cedestech »

I know this is old news to guys who have been doing this forever...

I know there are fewer and fewer new guys having rifles made...

Hopefully this will be a footnote that someone can use in the future because I have never seen it visually displayed before.

Both of these rifles have a 13 3/4" LOP, as defined by the distance from the trigger blade to the butt.

There is an inch difference from the front of the pistol grip to the trigger blade between them....

For some people this may not matter. For some, it does... I have large hands but medium length fingers ( when I used to race it was a
PITA finding gloves that fit well). The Wooster stock that I had Steve make for MY measurements "fits" better. Will it increase my score
by 10 animals? Probably not. Will I have one less thing to fight with? Yes... :)

Thanks for posting that Emmett.

It's interesting to see how different stock-makers can have such different designs.

Also, I wish there were a standard name for the measurement between the buttplate and the grip similar to the ubiquitous "length of pull" measuring buttplate to the trigger.

To be fair, Steve did inlet the stock about half an inch farther back then what would be "normal" but that is the point. That is where I wanted the trigger to fall and he was able to make it happen.

Is the stock in the front an older style Wooster stock. Looks very similar to a Pharr.

Stock in the front (longer grip to trigger) is an original Pharr, one in the back is current Wooster.
