Smallbore regional in Midwest?
I am looking for a smallbore tournament somewhere close to Arkansas. I see posts for matches in the North and Northwest, but nothing in my geographic area. Can anyone recommend one somewhere in the midsouth or midwest? May, June, or July would be preferred.
Thanks!
Thanks!

St Louis Benchrest Club is one of the finest facilities in the country.
Their schedule includes SB Silhouette:

Re: Smallbore regional in Midwest?
Once upon a time the Small bore national moved annually to various locations around the country. That gave all sorts of folks an easy access to a national competition. I contend the sport would benefit from restoring that method. The current system caters to people who shoot both high power and smallbore. The silhouette committee ignores the fact that there are a lot more smallbore only competitors

Snake,
Who said some kind of "silhouette committee" has to approve a National match?
Why do you need a governing authority to hold a "National" smallbore silhouette?
This is still America. Land of the brave. Home of the free.
Set the dates. Set your own rules. Formulate a advertising flier that says National match.
We send you money and entry forms. We make lodging reservations.
We travel to your range. If we shoot good, you give us trophies or awards that say something like "2022 AA. National Smallbore Silhouette Champion" and other pertinent stuff.
We thank you for hosting such a fantastic national match.
Travel home and live happily ever after.
Nobody says there cannot be more than one national match in a year.
Do it and you are probably going to be surprised how many people will show up.
St. Louis is the perfect middle of the country location.
(Mrs. atomicbrh and I will be there if at all possible.)

People will just have to understand that no scores would be sent to a sanctioning body, no 10 in a rows would count toward a sanctioning body grand slam, possibly no 5 and 10 in a row pins could be awarded and no sanctioning body national records could be set. But those records could be recognized and recorded in the host club's history.

who hijacked this thread???? Same damn arguments. Whiners don't run matches, organize matches, they just whine. cedestech runs matches. not a whiner. You can award any pins you want. The pins are for sale to the general public. Put up or shut up. Nobody is stopping you. read what atomicbirch is saying , organize and run a match, and close your pie hole.

In all of sports there are multiple national championships each year.
Take boxing as an example.
Multiple sometimes as many as four Heavyweight champions each year with different organizations.
Same in MMA. Same in auto racing.
Hold a good match. We will shoot it.

Re: Smallbore regional in Midwest?
It takes us two days of driving to travel to any of the national matches.
That is 4 days to travel and two extra nights of lodging expense.
We are too old to drive straight through now.
That means devoting 8 days just to shoot the smallbore nationals.
We can drive to St. Louis in a day and still have time to get our rifles inspected and shoot some practice on the travel day.
A national match in the Midwest is a wonderful idea.

Re: Smallbore regional in Midwest?
Just to try and bring this thread back on the original track...
I was asking about a regional tournament, not a national match. All of the state level smallbore matches that I am aware of in this area have their matches in the fall. TN, Ok, etc. I was looking for one in summer. Thanks!

Re: Smallbore regional in Midwest?
They're not in the midwest but the Golden Triangle Regional is coming up this weekend in Beaumont, TX and the Louisiana Silhouette Championship is on May 1-2 in Gonzales, LA. Both both are smallbore championships and also feature air rifle silhouette
(that reminds me that I need to put the Louisiana Silhouette Championship program on Steelchickens...)
