Marlin 1897

Have a nice Marlin 1897 that I plan to shoot in lever action silhouette and am wondering what sight to mount on it? Have a Win 1892 for pistol caliber that am using a Redfield 75 on and am thinking of just mounting the rail and moving it over. But, would be interested in any suggestions for a better solution so don't have to drill holes in the side of the receiver. Barrel has been lined, so not a sacrilegious as it first sounds.
Thanks.

With the mounting bar thinned out as much as possible.
With a stock width mounting bar.
Mounting bar thinned to center top of sight.
Modified mount for Mauser rifle milled down flat (as much as possible) and mounted. My favorite without going to a gunsmith and building a new side mounting piece for the top of the sight to screw into replacing the factory side piece.
