Wind

I was reading Bob M's post on the CRC being windy and I was thinking about the different ranges and the wind conditions that I have shot on. California- Avenal- have shot shot there quite a few times, has been windy a couple of times. Coalinga- shot there twice, a little windy but constant. Pala- shot there once a constant 1 1/2min. breeze from the left from start to finish. Texas-New Branfals- Has been a few years, nice conditions if I remember right. Ysleta- windy. Colorado-CRC-windy. Aurora-shot there twice, windy the second time. Arizona-Ben Avery- No wind to maybe holding one animal and hitting another. Rio Salado-see BA., Tucson-Oldest Silhouette range, can be windy at times, alot of people don't like to shoot there, but I like it. Yuma-The worst. New Mexico-Raton- As Tubb says you are going to get bitten at Raton, just how hard! Pennsylvania-Ridgway- have shot there three times, the most windage that I have put on my scope there was 1/2 min. The range there slopes downward, even more so than Raton, IMHO.

JB, Wind a shooters friend  .

Raton will certainly bite, have shot there the relay before they called the line one time due to hailstorms, rather interesting shooting. Highest score on the whole line on that realy was 4, think maybe some of them just blew over at the right time.

Aurora was fun, some of the Florida winds are not as strong but very unpredictable when it comes to direction and constant switching.

A wind that dosen't nove your body is OK if you have a good spotter and calls the wind for you.

The hail shoot at Raton was an experience. I tried to shoot chickens during the hail and had a hard time seeing the targets, let alone correct for the wind.

For those of us of slight (skinny) build, a wind that will move the bullet any appreciable amount is also going to move the body. That just makes it more fun. :)
