Hi,
Were getting a new Henry .22mag 24" octagon barrel rifle for Silhouette.

Which ammo does this like for silhouette shooting?

Both of my wifes like CCI 40gr TMJ.

I can verify that Hornady 45gr bullets will not perform well in your Henry. Henry folks think it has something to to with the plastic tip. Mine key holed at 10 yards (Hit target sideways).

CCI TMJ performed best. So good there as no reason the use any other.

Tried Federal 50gr, again key hole hits.

Sent rifle back to Henry - They sent me a new one and I sold it before I shot it.

Which Hornady? 45 grain Critical Defense was my first choice after testing several other brands. No keyholes at 100 meters. FEDERAL - GAME-SHOK AMMO 22 MAGNUM (WMR) 50GR JACKETED HOLLOW POINT was my second choice. It would have been first choice if it didn't get a couple fliers in my testing. My rifle was also a Henry Frontier Long barrel. I sold it after 4 ram ringers at Ridgeway.

Hornady Critical Defense 45gr would not work well in my rifle. But each is different. Good luck with it.

Federal lightening 510 wally world always has it too.

I shoot the swamp people ammo from cci in mine out to turkeys with no sight changes and for rams I pull the 40gr and seat a 45gr with the charge weight bumped up .2gr , seems to take MOST all rams hit
