I checked the extended weather forecast for Raton the week of the Lever Action Nationals.
Looks like a little rain on Monday 7/23 increasing to a lot of rain as the week progresses.
Don't know how accurate the extended forecasts are, but you might want to be prepared for wet shooting.
Should keep the forest fires away.

Forget what the weather man says. The weather actually follows the match schedule. Every time I've been to Raton, it starts out nice, get some rain by day 3, and then the nasty stuff comes just in time blow all the rams down on day 4. At least that's how I remember it. :?

DJA, Maybe we all should know whether you are planning to come this year,. That way we can prepare accordingly. :)

It has rained a little every afternoon since I got here Sunday. It sure cools things off.

The weather guessers were somewhat correct. They should have said:

"Mornings very cold, damp and dark with visibility so bad you can't see black the turkeys against the dark backgrounds.
Followed by wind from ever directions.
Then hot afternoon sun at altitude to high that you pant for breath as you trek from Rams to Chickens...like you've forgotten how to breath!
And the day ends with hail, howling wind and torrential rain followed by a beautiful rainbow - then mosquitos."

I can't wait to go again next year!

Thanks Jeanne, you put on a good show.

Wasn't that cold to me.
Winds during the match were all but inconsequential
I could easily see all my targets clearly while I missed them
Mosquitos? I've seen 3 so far, and I'm living in the west campground.
