I am at the Whittington Center and I am happy to say that I have shot the white buffalo!

I am a very happy individual!

It was a lot of fun. I am going to go do it again this morning before heading home.

Lever rifle? I am no where good enough for that!

Jerry, you have never visited the White Buffalo at the Whittington Center? It is 6 feet tall by 10 feet long. It is sitting at 1123 yards.

Hitting the buffalo with an iron sighted lever gun while standing isn't that big of a deal. Most lever gun guys/gals I know have done it. The Ram at 500 meters...now that's really tough ...but doable also.

It takes a 45/70 3 seconds to get there and another 3 seconds for the sound to get back... enough time for a snack and a short nap.

I've hit the Buffalo several times with my 30/30, but sadly only from a rest. Standing/unsupported I hit the dirt just below him more times than I can count! However I have been able to hit the 500meter ram a couple times standing.

Either way, both are a fun way to blow off ammo left over from the National match.

If my math is good, 1t is 6 min tall and 10 1/2 min long.

A ram, with legs is 5 min tall and 6 min long.

Both off the bench should be a piece of cake.

Don't underestimate my ineptitude!

My 45/70 elevation for the buff is 124moa above my 100m setting. You have to time your shot so as to not interfere with waterfowl migrations.

Interesting... that's almost exactly the same MOA drop as the 2000fps 170g 30-30 projectile/load I used the 1st couple times I shot there. It calculates to 1024fps at 500meters and 756fps at the Buffalo.

One of my more recent trips out to NRAWC I used a 160g projectile/load (not legal for CLA) running right at 2200fps at the muzzle that wound up only being about 85 MOA drop. 1280fps at 500meters and 897fps at the Buffalo. It was only about 200fps faster at the muzzle but oh what a difference the BC made!
