One of my newer 32-20 1894cl marlins is double feeding. I think I may need a carrier. Have any of you fixed the double feed and how did you do that.

Just sell it and buy a Winchester Glen.

Ck the loading gate screw to make sure it is not loose.

I have taken it apart and cleaned it. same jam. I think it may be the carrier.

We had three jam alibis at our Spring Roundup this past weekend. They were all Marlins. I agree with Taps. I had some Marlin center fires over the years, and sold all of them, as I don't like having issues on the firing line. I still,have a '94 CL in 218 Bee that I hunt turkeys with. I don't anticipate having problems there as it's usually a one shot situation.

The problem is the carrier is not thick enough and it lets the 2nd shell come underneath it. I brazed a piece of steel ( about as thick as a hack saw blade) and that took care of it. There was some aftermarket ones but I couldn't find or get ahold of one.

The carrier for a 32/20 were unavailable when I needed one.So I used one for a 357 mag.Or you can bend the carrier.40+ years ago a gunsmith who was Marlin warrenty station told me he bent them all the time. I have bent a couple but it has been quite some time
since I did it.The link shows a way.It only takes a few thousands .010 or so comes to mind.

Yes, without a hitch.
The plunger and spring came out of mine.I tried the carrier from my 357 in the 32/20 and it worked.At the time they were moving from Connecticut to New York.They wanted me to send the whole rifle to them.There was a time I could have just sent the carrier,but not any more.I got a carrier from Midway.

I found a 32-20 carrier this evening. Good to know a 357 will work in a 32-20

I had the same problem with my 39a. The cut-off was letting cartridges slip past and jamming. Close the lever when you load the rifle will help. If your rifle has a cut-off similar to the 39a's you might adjust the torque on the screw and flex the cut-off outward a bit.

Of course my fix for Chevy might not work on your Ford.

Two different mechanisms. A 39 is relatively easy to figure out and parts are plentiful. My 1894's won't load into the magazine with the lever open. We NEVER load a 39 with the lever closed. Too dangerous having hands at the muzzle.
